Anyone have any experience with the Scorpion EXO400?  I'm deciding btw that and the HJC AC-11.

Thanks!

pandy

I have the EXO400, and it's a great helmet. I've worn an HJC before, too. The Scorpion is MUCH quieter, and it's very comfortable. The sizing seems a little different (I wore an XS HJC, but I wear a S Scorpion). I don't get much of a fog problem with the Scorpion, either.

The only fault I've found with the Scorpion is that you can't crack the shield just a tiny bit for air. It has its pre-set clicks, and that's where it goes. I could open the HJC about a quarter of an inch if I wanted.

The Scorpion is VERY much worth the price!  :thumb:

This was one of the things I appreciated most about the EXO400: it was MUCH more aerodynamic than my previous HJC. Perhaps when you start with the worst, even a step up is heaven?

it was more windy inside the helmet then my hjc cs12. i consider the cs12 to be the most basic helmet.

in fact i am considering something like wiley x goggles to keep my eyeballs from dryin out. :o

I have one too...

Check this for lots of user reviews:  http://www.motorcyclegearreview.com/reviews.php?prodID=852

That's what I've been using to get a good idea of what gear to buy.  It's a great link.  I've never had any gear and am as green as grass about most of this stuff so any tips about gear any of you could provide would be cool.  What I've gathered so far is all leather gloves, ankle protection, 1000 denier (whatever that is) for pants of textile jackets.  I'm trying to decide between a leather jacket or the Mach 3 that I think Alpha said he wears.  I want something that will hold up pretty well when I take my first spill.   :thumb:

You guys are awesome this board probably saved me from some future road rash.

it sounds like you have the basics down.  The only place that offers 1000 denier Cordura jackets and pants is www.motoport.com  .  Very nice gear but very expensive.  Most manufacturers offer jackets in 400-600 denier and they're fine for most people.  Keep a close eye on e-bay when you're ready to buy.  I just nabbed a brand new $250 First Gear jacket for $70 shipped.  Gloves and boots you should definitely try on before buying, since the fit varies wildly.  I used to think that armored riding pants weren't necessary, till I started reading some gory stories about shredded kneecaps.  Here are some good sites to comparison shop: www.newenough.com , www.kneedraggers.com and here is a good site to read reviews: http://www.motorcyclegearreview.com/
