I liked the digital speedo, the suspention, the brakes...  And that's it.

It was the most painful 20 minutes of my week...  Totally not the bike for me.   KILLED my back.

I put a lot of miles on mine this weekend and my back feels good. 

But my groin!  Inside of my thighs.  Pretty sore.  And my calves.  But that is, I think, from sliding side to side in the saddle so much. 

I was leaned forward pretty far most of the time, resting my stomach and chest on the tank, so that took a lot of the presure off my back.

I was trying to find a way to sit just to get home...  Ass all the way back?  Nope...  All the way forward?  Nope...  Somewhere in the middle?  Nope...  Laying down was sorta better but it made it hard to control (city riding)...  Sitting as upright as I could made my back feel a lot better, but my elbows were locked and my wrists were killing me...   

I got home and hopped on the GS to go to practice...  The first thing I thought was, "AAAAAAAAAAAAH  this is SOOOOOOOO nice!" 

It's too bad really...  I'm betting I won't be able to ride any aggressive bike (Thruxton) without the same problem...  M50 here I come.   

You know what's strange?  I have back problems (mild scoliosis and a herniated disk) and the SV really didn't hurt my back.  The rest of me hurt (wrists, elbows, knees and hips), but not my back.  It was just a little tired. 

I bet you'd like the naked version better.  When I was at the dealer a few weeks back they actually let me sit on one and it was very similar to the GS.

He was pretty funny...  Said the GS500 could barely do the speed limit on the freeway.    Did nothing but talk shaZam! about the GS500 while I was there...  Proceeded to tell me I should get a 2001 GS550...    Then had no idea about any Truimph bike...

If you want a standard, get the Thruxton.  But don't forget to buy a brown bomber jacked, silver brain bucket, and some fighter pilot goggles.  That'd be wicket.

Is it because of height? I've been looking at the SV650 a bit because its larger, but my biggest restriction is size because I'm 6'4".

The seat is higher, but it was the general position that was killing me...   High seat, back pegs, low forward clip-ons controls...  The naked SV has normal handle-bars, so it's not quite as aggressive.

I think it's my bad posture and inflexibility that did it...
