My left fork is leaking a small amount of oil and I'm not entirely sure why.  It's a 97 that probably sat in dealerships and the like for a long time and the tub looks fine except for a very minor barb on the back.  Is it possible that this barb has cut some seals/orings and I need to replace (rebuild?) all the seals and the oil to be on the safe side?  How do I fix the barb on the cheap?


I'm also in need of an air filter, new chain and a gasket set, any reccomendation on a site to get all of this stuff would be excellent.

If the barb ever goes down into the lower part of the leg when the suspension is compressed then you'll probably have to replace the upper part of that fork.
If however it always stays above the oil seal then you might be ok.

What you'd need to do is file, then sand then polish that part of the tube as smooth as you can.
Then when you put on the new for seal, slide it down the tube with a freezer bag inside the seal to protect it.
