grrrrr
<long rant/vent>
If you are familar with the way Ebay works, you know you have to represent what you are selling fairly acurately because your buyer can't touch what they are buying. There is a fair amount of faith that the other person isn't going to be dishonest or will deal with you fairly if things aren't right.

I was looking for a pair of frame sliders for a YZF600 project and came across this auction that looked pretty spiffy. So I buy them.

They show up, and I happily open the box. Errr... the mounting bolts are missing.
"Oh well, honest mistake" I think.
I send them an email saying the bolts are missing. I get this snotty reply from "Jen" saying I need to take pictures of the parts and the wrapping sticker.
Uh ok.... So I do so, and while I'm waiting for a reply. I take the sliders out to the bike to "dry fit" them. Hmmm something seems not right. The sliders base, that should be machined to fit into the socket and act as a spacer between the frame and bolt head, is way to big in diameter, and looks like it was designed for an old GSXR.

Ok, if they forgot the bolts, maybe they shipped the wrong sliders too? I get back on the 'puter discribing the problem. I get a terse reply saying no thats the way they are supposed to be. So I go look again (still don't have any bolts). Nope no can do. The slider would sit on the lip of the rather fragile looking mounting bosses. Toss the bike down the road and the slider would take its unsupported bolt and bend it over and probably crack the frame and rip the bolt from the motor.
I send an email back explaining my concerns and even sending the above pic illustrating the problem.
I get another email from "Jayson Moss" this time saying they are fine and designed for that bike and if I don't like them I can return them for a "store credit" minus 15% "restocking fee".
Uh... I don't think so.

It amazes me how some people act. And if this is how they act over a measly $60 pair of sliders, I don't think I want any part of dealing with them in the future.

Yeah thats them. They are a used car/bike dealer in VA. that shoulda set off the  :bs: meter if I had bothered to check.  Yeah I gave them a neg feedback and then the ass retaliated with by giving me one to and then threatened to get me kicked off ebay! So I filed a complaint and have been on the war path since...
Oh well, I have these really expensive (but shiny!) paper weights now.

That sucks man.....

Eeewwwwww watch out man they'll  get the ebay police to kick you off..... Too funny.

Yeah that was obviously a retaliation feedback and anyone that reads your feedback will know it. So are they going to send you your bolts?

heh....

Looking at the pic in the Ebay listing, I would guess you are prolly right in suspecting they fit an older ('96 - '00) Gixxer.  I had plastic sliders on my '97 Gix600, but the way that the inner shoulder is longer on one than the other is identical to what fits the GSXR.  Looks like they made an honest mistake on the fitment & then decided to be jerks about it instead of just making it right.

Thanks for the heads up & I'll be watching out for them, too.

Best of luck in getting this resolved.

Hey if you used a credit card you can reverse the charge by saying wrong items were shipped. Did that and the charge disappeared from the card - If they send me a replacement I guess it will come back on prolly (my merchant was giving me the silent treatment - phone always goes to a machine, and no replies to email). The card guys said something about not paying the merchants until the customer sees the charge and makes payments on it. Even after that I presume they can pull it back but this will prevent it from going through. The cards have specific categories for refusing right on their forms and the bait and switch is one of those.
Cool.

I used PayPal which makes things more complicated.
I'm going to call the store and try to talk to the manager about this and that person.
If that doesn't work I will try to sic PayPal on them or if all else fails, yeah dispute it on my CC.

If you've never been to Danville, VA, it's a giant used car dealership. There are enough used cars in Danville to supply every family in Virginia with 2 used cars. One daily driver, and one to park on the lawn.

And for anyone who gets upset with that last post, I live in Virginia and do in fact have a broken down car on my lawn. So  :nana:

Well, if that doesn't work, post their email address here so we can all send them a friendly note explaining how good customer service should work and remind them that word spreads fast on forums, newsgroups, and mailing list.  So maybe it won't do much, but when they're going out of business in a year, at least maybe they'll wonder whether it was over some piddley frame sliders.

I have dealt with 58cycle numerous times lately. I just spent over $400 with them in the past month even getting all the parts to fix the 929. They have provided me with exceptional service and unbelievably fast shipping. Give them a call and see if you can work something out with them. They seemed very reasonable to me. I hope everything works out for you with them. If you continue to have problems with them, email me ( david-new@mindspring.com ) and I will send them an email on your behalf. Everything that they sent me was perfect.

Yes fron dealing with them and looking at their Ebay feedback, they seem to be a good fast shop, until you have a problem. Then she (I'm pretty sure the one that does sales is a she) goes into denial and attack mode.

Anyway, it appears my campaign has succeeded. Either I and the folks who wrote them beat 'em into submission or shes' just tired of dealing with me but she has agreed to refund my total amount. I still have to pay for the return shipping, but I have better things to do than fan email flames.
