I stand corrected.  I still don't think you will ever see them becuase making them emissions friendly is too much of a pain/expense for manufacturers to bother with.

And I don't buy the "americans only like big, powerful bikes" explanation.  Most of the riders I know find bikes of all displacements interesting and fun.  Not to mention that two strokes are more powerful per displacement than 4-strokes.  So I would think that would make the 2-stroke lovers the power junkies

actually america as a whole wants big bikes.  Why do think we only saw like 2 years of the 4-stroke 400 sports?  Never got the SV400...or the CBR250...etc.  Some Americans will buy them, but America will not.

What about the Aprillia 50's? I saw one down at a local dealer. It was used but still in mechanically good shape! (had been lowsided a couple times)

Couldn't get to ride it but MAN was it light, I practically could have picked it up and run off with it! (I could lift it ENTIRELY off the ground Would be a great practice bike.

Yes but americans are also lazy as heck, 2 strokes need more maintenance. But I have to admit, the CR500 almost makes it worth it.

That's exactly what I was saying. Some of us may buy them, but America as a whole will not. shaZam!, people scoff at the 500's. The guy at Cycle Gear asked if I *still* had my GS500. Yeah, and you *still* have your SV650, so settle down.

If I could find a clean running RS50 I would snap it up in a heartbeat.  Those things are awesome.
