Hey,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the GSX-R rear wheel swap.  I have the wheel and a GSx-R brake arm for clearance for tire clearance purposes.  But I was wondering how big I can go on tire, with the Gsx-R brake arm.  I've seen that some people have gotten away with 160-60 but I was wondering if I could make 170-55 work?  Also does anyone have suggestions on type of tire.  Thanks ahead for the input.

the bike will never, ever, EVER, need a 170.

Hipocracy.... becoming more acceptable with the more power you think you have.

Just a thought I was looking at a vstrom the other day and could not help but notice how similar the back wheel is to a GS but it runs a 150, if that was to fit a GS it would be the best size and design as it is the same three spoke as the GS but I dont know if it will fit so hopefully someone knows :thumb:

The reason people do wheel swaps is so that they can use the higher quality supersport tires, which only come in sizes 150 and above. The only reason tires are wider is so power can be applied better to the road with a higher powered bike. The GS makes 40HP on a good day bone stock. It does NOT need a 170 rear section tire ever, as noted before. SOME 160s work, but some do not (as noted in my D208 thread).

It seems like you just want a big tire so you can look cool next to all your buddies on their sportbikes. Inferiority complex much? Just get a 150 and go ride, jeeze.
