another idea is to look in the photo galery and look at members bikes.  There are a lot more but it's 1:30 am and I'm tired.
If you really want to make your bike stand out think about a custom paint job.

I really like the look of this belly pan/chin spoiler with the fly screen:

I think some of these are enlightening, but here's the summary of how I feel (and how this guy feels too, I'd imagine)

Looks like all you want to do is look good and make noise. You obviously have no interest in learning how to ride and are just riding a motorcycle to look "cool".

Quote from: Cal Amari on April 17, 2006, 04:19:45 AM
Actually, Alpha and AJ were well ahead of me... as has been mentioned in a previous thread, squidly nick claims to ride a motorcycle, but he does it for all the wrong reasons. He has no interest in doing anything that isn't related to making an ass of himself at every opportunity; he only wants to MAKE NOISE, and show off for the other three year-olds who hang out down by the sandbox. He'll cripple or kill himself, and people will cry and think he wasted his life, but it will only be Darwinism triumphing again. Of course, OUR insurance rates will go up, though squidly nick won't have to worry about that from the comfort of his wheelchair, iron lung, or coffin, whichever is his NEXT "ride", AFTER he RUINS a perfectly good motorcycle.

The thing is, I get the feeling that squidly nick is actually fourteen years old, and only pretends he has a motorcycle... Either that, or he's suffering from the effects of one or more of the following:

1. An inadequate personality

2. Undescended testicles

I keep hoping that people like him either wise up soon, or die quickly; since they have no interest in actually learning how to RIDE a motorcycle, they are hazards to themselves and everyone around them. If they wise up, the motorcycling community as a whole benefits; if they don't, there is a severe shortage of organ donors in this country, and squids help to ease the suffering of another family through the organ donations their next of kin make. If squids serve no real purpose in life, they should at least be useful in death. Countless thousands are waiting for kidneys, livers, hearts... a good number of human organs are transplantable, and squids can help ease the shortage.

Come to think of it, maybe my perspective on this is all wrong; maybe I should encourage squidly behavior... a squid might donate an organ that saves my life, or the life of someone dear to me... Leukemia and heart disease run in my family; no matter how obnoxious they are, every squid has bone marrow and a heart that could help someone else... looks like I've got some thinking to do... Let's see... Lose a squid, save someone who deserves to live... I'm beginning to think there is a place in this world for squids after all... As long as they don't ruin any transplantable organs when they stuff themselves under a bus, they just might be able to make themselves useful to society after all...

Well, I'm going to have another beer, and give this some more thought; though I've always been inclined to discourage squidly behavior, I might have to reconsider this from a new perspective... maybe if all squids carried signed organ donor cards, I could see this in a different light... they tend to be relatively healthy young males right up until the moment of impact... Their brains aren't worth a shaZam!, but brains can't be transplanted anyway... time to do some more pondering...

And some of my thoughts (rants) on the subject:

what are some of the nicest exhaust out their? And which ones are the loudest?

Why do you think you have to have the loudest pipe? Is this some sort of complex or something? Do you feel that's the only way you can get noticed, by having a big fart pipe on your bike? Learn to ride. People will notice you for that more than your toot toot exhaust.

Toot toot.

I'm sorry, but if I see one more damn n00b exhaust post, I'm going to bust a proverbial cap in someone's ass.

Damn people just because people want to make their bike look different or sound different doen't mean they are not interested in learning how to ride.  Or that we should wish uppon  them bodily harm.  Unless you have a 1 of a kind bike I'm sure that somewhere in this world someone has the same bike that you ride now.  Whats wrong with changeing the way it looks?  Or Sounds?  Making it a little bit different so it stands out a little.  Hell how many of us have the stock exhaust on our bikes?  I guess sense there is no real performance gains then we must all be squids for changing them out.  Guy wants a lounder bike if thats what he wants then go for it.

What gives us ( us being the members on this board ) the right to judge people, their bikes and riding style.   Not everyone is the same.  Some people like cruising others like taking curves faster than we should, is it written somewhere that if you like cruising you have to have a cruiser or that if you like the twisties then you have to ride sport bike?  And if you want loud exhaust you must have a harley?

I guess everytime someone does a mod I don't like I should start calling them squids or squidly and then go on to say that when they die riding their bike they won't take out a family and only kill themselfs +1 darwinism

Hey, Alpha!  How many horse power did you pick up by adding the '05 body work?  Or did that just help with handling?

I added a Zero Gravity Double Bubble wind screen to my SV.  It really does deflect the wind better.  I highly recommend it, if you can find one.

Also, apparently if you have a Wileyco exhaust you won't get made fun of by GStwin.  Plus they look good and sound good.  Just a bit heavy, that's all.

Yeah don't roast him too much for wanting to customize his bike.  That's part of the enjoyment.

I hope so, because your attitude is getting a bit old.

Wanting to mod a bike in a way you don't approve doesn't automatically point to someone having no interest in learning how to ride. That's a ridiculous statement. Your attitude is getting a little old, too.

How about cutting folks some slack and letting up on the harsh judgements?  :nono:

has anyone thought of dropping a small can under the bike (a la Buell) so it is mounted in between the Y-pipe and the rear tire?  i think that would look good and get it out of the way.  also would be easier logisitcally than an under fender custom job...

It seems like this board only caters to one type of rider anymore.
AJ and Alpha have been on "Squid Patrol" lately.  It seems they are the be-all, end-all of what is squidly and what is not.

Oh well.  Boys will be boys.
