I'm planning on doing an oil change this weekend and I found great stuff on how to do the change, but I didn't find much about what you guys do with the old oil.  I assume it shouldn't be dumped in the backyard or down the drain so what do you guys do with it?  Thanks

Mandres

I store it in milk jugs.  Then, when I go into town I drop it off at the autoparts store for recycling.

I store mine in a 5 gallon container until full then take it to a recycling center.
Common sense in not very common.

Most parts stores will recycle used oil.

Here is Aus not many Auto shops take you oil for recycling

Usually have to go to a waste reclaimation centre (lol, once known as the tip or dump), they have free disposal for oil (so it can be recycled)

Used to store it in a 5-gallon pail, then would take it to work at the truck shop I used to work at, where we strored it in a big holding tank and used it to heat the shop buildings. Now with my new job-at an HD/Buell dealer, I'll have to take it to an auto parts store, or recycling center.
