South East Rocket

This Guy, Eric, bought his 1st bike in the spring.  I guess he thought a Gix 750 would be appropriate for a beginner bike.

3rd day after purchased- Bike was dropped

About 2 month later- He crashed it trying to yank a wheelie

Now our trip to Deal's gap (8/10/03)- I was running behind our best rider: My buddy Daniel on a gix750.   Eric, our squid, proceeds to pass me on a straight away since Daniel was pulling on me and, I guess, Eric wasn't getting enough thrills riding safe behind me.   After entering the second turn after Eric passed me I found his Gix in the ditch.  Eric was also the only one not wearing a riding jacket.   Broke the brake lever and body damage.

3 days ago- Eric now thinks he has what it take (since he's put 2,800miles on his new bike) to yank wheelies.  Well it came up too high and went over on him.

End of the story- He's bike is now totalled

Here is a better Squid story I found on this site so I copied and pasted it below and some of you might remember reading this one!

"WOW!

Guys I  ( South East Rocket) ran from the police... I didn't really start off with the intention of running but...

Here's the story.

A friend of mine has driving his dads M3 and noticed me. We pulled over to shoot the shaZam! and upon leaving we decided to run our machine against each other. He turned off and I kept going to get home. After the rush I got from toasting that german beast it was hard to loosen my wrist from the throttle. There it is! I pass a cop car running about 75 in a 35 zone. Remember this is tennessee back roads so my 1st reaction was to speed up and take a turn and lose the cop. In my mind I thought that the cop had to get his car to a stop, turn around and accelarate to get behind me. So in other words i was just taking a quick turn and not really evading.... Well I went to execute the plan, pegggin the bike out in though every gear to get to my turn. shaZam!... I m coming too fast and cant make the turn....so I go straight. At this point I'm approaching triple digit speeds and realize that the cruiser in about 50 yds behind. "it's too late" I think. I pullover at this point and and I get a felony charge. So i stayed on it hoping the country-road twisties would shake him off. Sure enough the crown vic. couldnt keep with the the GSJACK-recommended Avon Azaros that just got baptished at Deals gap the weekend before. Anyways, all this to tell you that i got away. This thought me one thing: Don't do it! It's too damn scary.

I heard stories from friends about losing cops in a pursuit and always thought it would give you the best feeling in the world to outrun the law. This feeling of invincibility and power...
I got home at 1AM put the bike in the garage and proceeded to shake like a little Buddha Loves You. I turned the light off in my room and looked outside. shaZam!! cops cars driving up and down the road and other surrounding areas.
Got in bed around 2:30 and finally fell asleep around 5am well the rest of the adrenaline finally cleared my system....
"

He did not wreck his bike but he did everything else stupid and I feel that this earns him the badge of SQUID

Hey, I am sorry if I pissed in your corn flakes today and yes I can be a @$$hole at times but I just found it to be a bit funny that you can more or less make fun of a "friend" who has done some stupid stuff in the past and have the nerve to call him a squid and consider it an insult when I pointed out your post , which you had to post for what ever reason, about running from a cop and referring to you as a squid.

As for having a "holier than thou attitude" I do not feel it to be the case an yes I have done some stupid things in life and have been stopped by the police a few times but the key word is "stopped".

Again as stated above I am sorry if I hurt your feelings by posting what I found on another link!

South East Rocket

The differences between my friend and me are the following:

1)  I learned, he didn't
2)  My 1st street bike was a 500cc his was a Super Sport 750cc
3)  I've never crash or drop a bike, he has dropped the bike once and crashed it 3 times.  The Gix has 2800miles on it!

If you define me as a squid then he's a mega squid.

Hey tkm433, apology accepted! :thumb:

Man, everyone takes things so personally around here.

SER, when I first read your "outran the cops" post, my first thought was squid.  However, I've seen you post on here before and you seem like a semi-intelligent individual who just made a bad judgement call.  To you its just a mistake that turned out allright.  To some others that were uninvolved in said activity, it seems like a stupid way to endanger human lives.  I'm not saying your stupid, but I am saying that you shouldn't get too upset that someone saw the pot calling the kettle black (at least a little bit in my opinion) and called you on it.

Also, I agree that your friend is just about the biggest squid I've ever heard about (although there was a story on the news around Kansas City about a guy on a crotch rocket decapitating his girlfriend on a guardrail because he took an interstate offramp at excess of 100 mph).  However, I don't think your reasoning makes him a squid.  Yes he did buy a big bike for his first bike, but that doesn't make him a squid.  Not respecting the bike and it's power is what would make him a squid.  Also, the fact that he's dropped and crashed his bike doesn't make him a squid either.  Look back on old posts here and see how many people have dropped their bikes, or went down.  The fact that he went down trying to wheelie when he obviously wasn't ready is what makes him a squid.  And finally, the fact that he didn't learn from his mistakes and you did.  Well, I read your other post, and I didn't really see anything saying that you had learned anything.  You just said you were scared and had a big adrenaline rush.  To the casual observer, it seems like you may have posted that to brag about beating out a police cruiser (which is another reason that you shouldn't be too hard on tkm433).  However, your friend not learning from his mistakes definitely makes him, not only a squid, but an idiot too.  I'm glad he totalled his bike because the streets are probably a lot safer without him riding on them.

Just my very long 2 cents.  Next time, I'll keep it to myself.

John L.

PS- SER... do you think your squid friend would have tried to outrun the cops on his 750??  Something to think about.

Edit:  My mistake, after revisiting the original threat, I've seen that SER did say that he shouldn't run from the cops because its too scary.  TOO SCARY????  How about illegal, dangerous, life threatening, etc, etc.  It seemed like you were missing the point based on the initial message, however your message near the end of the thread seemed to clear up those issues.  Sorry to bash you on a different thread dude, but you know you deserve what you get.

I may be new to this forum, but it is understood that if you post anything on a medium like this you have gotta be ready for all kinds or responses. No need to be too personal tho. juz my 2 cents.
It is not good enough to say that we are trying our best. We must succeed in doing what is necessary.
