wasn't me!!
hmm...... OK :-)

You know, that is so damn hillarious. I do feel sorry for the guy though. It looks like that was his first attempt at a wheelie. Thats why I don't even try.

Ouch!

Kills me when I see guys with $10,000 bikes just trash um.  I may attempt street bike wheelies when I get my beater GS running.  But not my good ride.

Ouch! I know he's pissed...
Blah blah blah...

Man that guy was stupid.  He looked like he was trying to pull up the front wheel which is what pushed him over to one side.  But yes getting the wheel off the front ground on the gs is very possible.  I have gotten it about 3" off the ground.  BTW I'm 6'2" 245# with only jetting done to my bike.

at least he was smart enough to be in full gear.  He's not a complete idiot...

well ok maybe he is.  but still, while his bike might be trashed, at least he's ok.

Note to self: practice stunts in a field with a $500 beater RM.
No time to wash the bike

Without a big crowd of other bikers standing around watching you.  :)

Too funny...shame about the bike though, it surely didn't deserve that.  :(

i have gotten my gs to the balence point and then some. didn't keep it up though.  had another one that some of my friends saw that was about 20 to 25 feet long with the wheel about 2.5 to 3 feet off the ground.  it just takes practice.

oh yeah and i am 6' 150#.  stage 1, K&N, and 15 tooth front sprocket, Race Tech fork springs, and GSXR rear shock

On the flip-side of this, I watched some guy the other day on his new R1 coming around a 15mph (posted) corner....both feet down, going about 10 mph.  Guess they need to make the R1's now with training wheels so the newbies can ride 'em.. :nana:

a "hundred and something" horsepower and you've got to do all kinds of antics to get the wheel up?

That's why people should start out with small dirt bikes, then small street bikes, then crash, then go ahead and buy an expensive quarter liter bike...

Looks like a broken hip or tailbone on that one. It looked like he couldn't even keep the bike in a straight line, let alone pull off a wheelie.

mes_423

so it is possible to do a wheelie on a gs, how is that possbile?

If you don't do it like the guy in the movie (trying to pull up an R1 like a bicycle :P)  it's possible. You ride 15 mph in 1st gear, pull in the clutch and rev to 6000 rpm and let out the clutch quickly. At least that's how I've heard you can do wheelies. I haven't tried it myself, being afraid to let the clutch out too fast or making too much revs and get the bike on top of me.

PS. It's obvious that the guy in the movie doesn't even have enough control over the bike to ride it normally. The bike jerks forward and then enginebrakes again because he can't control the sensitive throttle.  He's lucky to get injured here, on a twisty road he would problably lying on the side of the road  in no time.  He really deserves a Darwin award for this.
