Ok I guess I'm at a happy medium  I'm not putting in Wal-mart sludge but I'm not goin synthetic yet.    I'm getting a shiny new bike this summer and that one will have nothing but the best  ( not sure what type bike yet  I'm pretty split between a gixxer 1000, triumph daytona 675, and an older Duc 99xr superbike,  any suggestions??)

Jay_wolf

I use this 40 w sinthetic , *cant Spell*

Yeah the engine will run a lot smoother with oil, you should definatly use some. I like the slippery kind. I'd also steer clear of olive oil, It's really expensive and in my opinion dosn't worn that well. Cheap vegtable oil isn't really any worse than the expensive oilive oil, but in general, I find that it's best to stay away from cooking oils, they can make the clutch slip.  :laugh:

Hi there,
For 32 years, I've been running Castrol GTX in all of my four-stroke motorcycles, incouding my lovely 1991 GS500E. I run Castrol GTX 10W-40 in my GS and never have any oil problems or engine wear issues.
It's good oil.
Best wishes,
Todd

Yeah I've put about 100 miles on the GTX I just changed to  and everything seems fine,  it actually feels like it shifts a little smoother.  So I'll probably be sticking with it.  Can't beat 2 bucks a quart for a good oil!!

ohgood

GS: 10w40 JUST LIKE THE KNOB SAYS!

Accord: 5w30 JUST LIKE THE KNOB SAYS!

B2000: Anything that's on sale and say "AUTO" on it, maybe tranny fluid if it's really cheap.

Don't laugh.

gs= 15,000 miles
Accord= 201,500 miles
B2= close to 300,000 by now, the ticker died at 237,000 three years ago.

ya, they all sound like a box o rox with a monkeywrench thrown in, but they don't smoke, or use more than 5% between changes.

spc

Yeah, she loves that old thing.  I can't say much bad other than with a yellow paint job it looks like a taxi.  Mileage is awesome though it runs about 35 in town and close to 45 on highway.  And she bought it and the spare engine for 1800!!!!!  It's going to the paint shop soon too.

In case anyone was wondering honda has tested synthetics against high quality conventional oils and found no benefit.

(I sell their engines, it's my job to know.)
