Howdy all.  I am the proud owner of a 96 gs500, and sadly i have a problem.

I may be too freaking big for the bike.  I am 6'3" and 260lbs, and honestly the bike seems to sit just a bit too low.  How do you adjust the spring on this beast?  Would I need to put new springs in my forks to alleviate the front forks being 2/3rds compressed just from my weight?

Help! Love the bike, buts its pretty uncomfortable due to the suspension.

Front end: yes you will need to get new springs for the forks :thumb:
Back:  check the wiki on how to adjust the rear shock.

Hope ya get everything good to go :thumb: :thumb:

you will probably need to get agsxr shock for the back.... Then either put progressive shocks in the front or fork spacers.  All this can be found on the wikki or here at the site.  Hell if you can do it put a gsxr front end on it and that should fix it all together... :dunno_white:

yeah, I'm also 6'3" and 230lbs. I added the SV650 shock, which brings up the rear quite well and supports my weight pretty well, much better than the stocker. I also upgraded the front with 90kg racetech springs and 7 weight fork oil. You'll definatly want to replace the fork seals while you're in there (probably gonna have to do it sooner or later). Rides so mch better than stock.

just my 2 cents.
93 Gs500e: Racetech 90kg springs, SV650 shock, SM1 bars...more in the works.

I just rode mine home after getting a 140/60 on the back , aqnd while they were already in there I had them put my Kat shock in it ... after the initial concerns of the seat going up my butt , it was much more "substantial" feeling . I REALLY need to get my Sonic's installed up front now though ... i bottomed out the front end three times in the 4 mile trip home 'cause the bike is jacked up an extra innch or two in the back , throwing even more weight on the stock front end  :o
