I turned the screw one too many times and broke the screw post!!!! I was distracted and talking to someone and screwed up... How do i fix this??

If you can get a pair of vice grips on what's left, you can turn the stud out of the engine block.  More likely it's flush or inside the block, at which point you will have to use a Screw Extractor on it:



You should be able to get a set that fits the stud at a local hardware store.  But be careful when trying to drill out a pilot hole so that the screw extractor has a bite.  You need to hit the stud not the engine block.

I'm lucky never to have had to do this, but you're not the first to ask the question.  It may come out easy -- let's hope so.

You might want to do a seach for "Broken Stud" or "Broken Bolt" or "Filter Cover Bolt".  You should net a bunch of posts that explain how to fix this for a variety of folks that did the same as you.  There's information (and comfort) in numbers.     Perseverance pays.

Just slow down, step back till the frustration/anxiety go away and then see if you can't get it with the pliers.  When this happened to me a month ago I was able to get it out with a pair of needle nose pliers.  Just grip tight.  Failing that hit up a hardware store and ask for a screw extractor. When you got to dealer for the new stud ask for the o-ring for the cover also (the big gasket around it - suzuki calls it an o-ring).  That way you don't get it all back together to find out your leaking oil, (the $3 dollars is worth it).  Oh, make sure you laugh at how much trouble that stupid 96 cent piece of hardware is causing you.

I also broke the bolt one month ago, but it was quite easy repair. I order the stud (465559-001) at Bikebandit.com on Monday and received it on Friday. It costs less than $1 plus shipping.

+1, I havn't boke one yet but I did over tighten them and twist them.  Then the next oil change I replaced all the studs, and it sucked.......

I was able to get it out and ordered a new one from the dealership.

OK According to the Part Number 01421-0620A that is a 6mmx20mm Stud.If you go to http://www.motorcitypowersport.com/fiche_section_detail.asp they are .77 Cents and you get free shipping. 

I am local to www.motorcitypowersport.com and have used them a few times for parts.  They are full line MC dealer, but you get 20% off OEM parts that you web order.  I don't know how fast they ship, but I pick parts up at the dealer's brick and mortar in generally 3-5 days.
