The time finally came for me to taste the ground today before leaving for an afternoon at the seaside...
Used a little too much front brake when I arrived at my friend's house, being on a thick sand/gravel layer, and so the front wheel lost grip and the bike and I fell to the ground.

Me=dumb@$$. :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

No major damage to the GS luckily; just some more scuffs/scratches to the right engine cover (in addition to the ones made by previous owner(s)), a bit more scratches to the exhaust (...but weren't they already there?), and that seems to be all.

I probably hit the left peg while falling, so now I have a nice thick bruise below my left knee. But that's what I deserve. Justice's been done. :icon_mrgreen:

Have a nice weekend everybody!

Sounds like you were closer to a Pandy than a lowside
Glad you're OK :thumb:

Glad you're ok, simon.  :kiss3: It does sound like something I'd do (no offense intended  :icon_mrgreen:)

I was at the bike shop today and this kid rolled up on an R6 in no gear except a helmet.  He went to get off and forgot to put the kickstand down.  *Wham* Hit the damn concrete.  He spent like 20 minutes cursing before he actually tried to pick it up.   I almost died laughing

I helped him get it back on 2 wheels once he was done cursing and I was done laughing. :thumb: :thumb:

Front brake on the pavement , back brake on gravel is what i was always told . BUT , the people telling me never had a GS , so i'd have to say "MOSTLY front brake and a little rear on the pavement , back brake on gravel"  :icon_mrgreen:

There's a gravel road that i cut across to get to a good twisty section of road near me ... i'm always locking the rear and getting a foot down on it ... i missed the whole dirt-bike learning experience , now i want one  :thumb:

Sorry to hear about your spill, it's really heart wrenching to watch your baby go sliding down the concrete.

Thank y'all guys... :thumb:
So can I say that I "pandy'd" my bike??

I've ALWAYS known that front brake on gravel is a no-no. :nono:
The trouble is, that I temporarily forgot it. Dumb@$$ at work

Another thing that I learned is:
400 lbs can be quite hard to lift up from the ground. Ouch.
:icon_mrgreen:

BUT:
I'm definitely happy that I chose a naked bike to ride.
Tank and rear fairings are immaculate. :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:

PS:
I've just come back home from a bikers meet&greet near where I live.
Tons and tons and tons of bikes and people from all over Europe. :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:
...and among the crowd of DucMonsters and Hornets and Harleys I only spotted another GS...

I wouldn't be SAD that you only spotted one other GS.
Think of it this way, the Ducs and Hornets and Harleys are common.
YOU were the SPECIAL bike.  =)  :thumb:

I pulled into TWO(Two Wheels Only) one time on my first GS and I was the ONLY non-Harley there.
I got quite a crowd around my little bike.   :icon_mrgreen:

A HD guy and I went to the saturday morning hotdogs and coke fest at the HD dealer. Two or three guys there wanted to know "How does it cost to ship that suzuki from England anyway ?"

We had a hoot with them at first. Then we told em it was just a 10  year old machine that looks near new.
