My third ride to work and home and REALLY remember why I love having a bike and why I love the GS500 so.

Of course, I seem to attract SUVs as I was almost rear ended by a Mercedes going to work this morning while sitting at a red light AND at lunch today, an Alpharetta Police SUV pulled into my lane to cross the street and stopped about 20' in front of me. Ah well, all those years of martial arts and military reflexes pay off I guess. I'm a hood ornament for NO SUV.  :nono:

Already made a little list of things to do.
One of the first is carb adjustment. (Sorry Srinath.)
The thing smells like a gas station and at first fill up, 32.8 mpg.  :o
Something wrong there. That's HORRID and I think I saw 8K RPM once and usually in the 5-7K range so I'm not dogging it by any means.
Methinks I'm a TAD rich.   :dunno_white:
Other than that, she runs like a top.
Starts up in the morning on the first push.

Next is SPRINGS.
ZOMG! I can bury the front end and bottom out at like 4mph.
I think it's time to replace the springs.
I think I'll do the back with a Katana Shock too while I'm at it.
Pimp my ride!   :cookoo:

Brakes are AWESOME as when I pulled hard to not hit Mr. Policeman's SUV that was right in my lane, I stopped a few feet from his door.
40MPH ~ ZOMGSTOPPED! in no time flat!
Back brake pedal needs adjustment though.
My foot is almost pointed straight down before it engages much.

Thinking of switching to a dual headlight setup with a Buell fairing.
I really like that look.
Not terribly sure yet but it's a thought.

Chin spoiler/fairing......must...........have.........looks..........so........good.

Different exhaust.
This one is "drilled out."
It doesn't sound BAD per say but I think something else would sound BETTER.
Lots of choices.

Other than that, just little things here and there.
I'm so happy with it.
People are shocked when I tell them it's a 18 year old bike.
Guy with a Ninja 1000R was complementing me on it today at lunch and said what awesome little bikes they were and how he was thinking of buying one for commuting to work with. (Really nice guy.)

So yeah, I'm "whoring" my GS.
It'll take me a while to get over all the initial excitement so forgive me.
Every day I remember a little of my technique.
Every day, I lean a little further for a better turn.
I can't wait to go to some local events like Hooters Bike Night.
I don't care if anyone turns their noses up or anything.
It's MY bike and I like it!

Thanks again to all the knowledgeable people here sharing....well.........knowledge.
I'm sure I'll get slapped with "ZOMG IT'S THE WIKKI" eventually but I do try to research first.
I'm learning.
Little by little.   :thumb:

I think I'll keep my GS forever, eventhough it pisses me off at imes. It's so fun to build.

We all say that, but when the time came, I decided to let my Baby G go to the next n00b who needed him.  :kiss3:
