Ok guys, I ended up spending more money on my car than I thought I would.  So I think I might have to sell the GS.  If anyone is interested in picking up the project let me know how much you would be willing to pay.  If I don't get a decent offer I will finish it and then maybe put it up for sale then.

I'll take it. Can you put it back to stock configuration?

Make an offer.  If you make a decent offer I will let it go.  I am basically looking for offers seeing if it would be worth selling.  If I can't get much out of it I will finish it and ride it.

Going back to stock would require finding a stock seat, rear plastics, tanks, taillight and welding the subframe where it was chopped off by the previous owner.

I loved the idea of this project ,  :thumb:
I hate to even entertain the idea of selling it.  :dunno_white: I may not be able to let it go.

Don't put any more money into car. Use money you would spend on one job on car and buy another GS.

Sell car.
Twisty stuff is for me

i was just kidding about putting it back to stock. it's cool what youve done, and you should be able to find a buyer for it considering how pimpin the dang thing is.

cosmiccharlie

I think I am going to finish it.  Then decide what I want to do.  I will probably end up keeping it.

This weekend I modified the seat frame to fit the monster seat!  It looks awesome, and won't take much to be road worthy once again.  I'll post some pics of it in it's current form as soon as I can!

Can't wait to see these pictures. Photoshopped bike looks tight. How much has it cost you to do all this painting?

Was the engine paint you used from a rattlecan or gun?

cosmiccharlie

It hasn't cost me very much.  Probably around $50 so far with stripper, primer and paint.  It has all been done with rattlecan paint.

Did you use duplicolor on the swingarm as well? How many cans for swing arm? How many for engine? And how did you sand the engine with all it's grooves and stuff?

Duplicolor "Aluminium" color engine paint was used on the swingarm and all other parts that were painted silver.  The frame will be painted with the same.

Painting the engine was a little difficult.  I used a red 3m scuff pad to get as deep as I could between the cylinder fins.  I used the same scuff pad on the bottom end as well.  Then I used some heavy duty degreaser to make sure all the oil and grease was removed from the engine.  I taped off the bits that I didn't want paint on or in and then painted.

Well you definitely did a great job with rattlecans!  :thumb:
I never got that type of finish with a can. Heck who am i kidding i paid the big bucks for the good stuff to do it myself and still it didnt come out the way i wanted to   .
Thats why i now leave it up to my  good friend whos been painting for 17years now. I love the satisfaction in doing it myself but im a perfectionist and when im done i usually want to redo it cause i find  a fault somewhere down the line.

Dont let the bike go! Put it in the corner and pull it out when your car is done and your cash situation is stable again. From what i can tell the only major fab work you have left is the rear , painting it and putting it back together. Now if your that hard up right now im sure there are guys here that will take it off your hands in a heartbeat  ;), but be prepared to lose on it!

If  your having money issues either make sure you get what you want for it including labor. The custom game is hit or miss. Usually (and yes i know its been said time and time again) you do a custom according to your tastes and in the end you rarely make a profit when selling, unless its that sweet of a bike and it catches the right buyer.
From what i can tell you barely had any money into the bike, plus the cost of some rattlecans and the seat and a little fabrication on the rearend......But how much time and blood sweat and tears went into it???
