23 yr old dude from cambridge, ontario.  been riding for 4 years, bought a brand new gs500f in april.  work as a paramedic, so i've seen some crashes and know enough to wear my gear and have some respect for bikes.  so far the only work i've put into the bike is to get rid of that nasty rear fender....  over the winter my projects will hopefully include wider rear wheel/tire, yoshimura pipe, and new sprockets.

Hey,

I'm Yevgeniy. I'm a 20 years old student at UCONN. A couple of months ago I took a MSF course here in CT and a few weeks after that I bought my first street legal motorcycle ('07 Suzuki GS500F).. So I've been riding for a little less than a month and loving every minute of it! Hope to find some fellow motorcyclists to ride with.

34yr-old Canadian/American male. I've been riding since I was 18. My 1st bike was a 1984 Honda XL185s which I miss dearly, and the GS is my 2nd bike. I ride an unfaired 1991 model I bought new in 1992 from the dealership where i worked. It had been damaged in shipping from Japan and spent a year waiting for the warranty claim to be settled. I still have the dented, never-used gas tank that came off it. I've modified my bike with Progressive fork springs and heavier fork oil for more damping; always-on two-filament turn signals as running / position lights; and heated handlebar grips I made using snowmobile parts. That last mod extended my riding season by two months here in Ottawa! I now ride any time there's no ice on the ground.  Except: I have not ridden since my twins were born 5 YEARS AGO! (but I still consider myself a rider). This winter's project is to get the bike back on the road. I have lots of work to do as some vandals tried to burn the bike one night last year and all the rubber / plastic under and around the tank and covering the fuel hoses has melted into goo. No serious damage to the bike. I just need to replace the rubber/vinyl  parts and clean up the mess. I'm sure there's other work since it's been stored so long.
GS500EM currently undergoing major open-heart surgery.
Coming eventually: 541cc with 78mm Wiseco pistons; K&N Lunchbox; Vance & Hines; 40 pilot / 147.5 main jets; Progressive fork springs; 15W fork oil; Katana 750 shock

VFR750FM beautifully stock.

Hello, i am a new member, to this forum, i own two motoryclrs, the GS 500, and a Kawasaki Drifter, the GS is a winter bike, that i have just purchased, and needs to be regesterd in the UK and needs a little work as it as been stolen and recoverd, i need to replace the dash board and front indicaters allong with new head light, but appart from that the bike is n gr8 condition, and the motor runs well, it's a 1993 vehicle and as done only 24000 miles, i gave £220 or $120 in US money, and it came with a compleat set of Kappa luggauge, ignition switch as gone to, but i am fitting a remote keyles ridding and allarm system. look forward to chatting to other owners.

$120!  WOW! I think that's the new record for a running and rideable GS500.   :thumb:

I though I set my net low when I picked one up for $750.

Welcome!
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

I'm looking at one now for just for around $120. Would probably be a parts bike though. Needs carb work and a battery.

Not so fast!  According to [exchangerate.com], one British Pound Sterling is worth 2.09 dollars US.

                     £220.00  x  ($2.09 / £1.00)  = $459.80

Don't mind me; I'm just trying to keep everything on the up-and-up ;) ... but it's still a great deal for a running bike!  8)

Save the picture as a size around 100x100 pixels then post the picture on a photo hosting site. Get the url for the picture and put it up in your profile section.

My name is Mary from Orlando. Was an EMT for six years now do security at LockHeed Martin sweet gig. I got my '04 in August had 5000 miles got it for 3000 with a lowjack installed, full five year warranty and maintainace program. This is my first bike and I'm loving 210miles on a tank before the reserve. My roommate named him flick because if you look at it from the back it looks like bug antennae, its also blue, and when you flick the curves so the name stuck.

Do have a question though. Trying to figure out which will be the easiest route. My bike has about a half inch crack at the bottom fairing but other than that the paint and decals are fine. I got another fairing off of ebay for twenty bucks and 18 for shipping. It has light scratches on it and will need new decals. Should I try to fix the crack  or polish up the other one and get new decals? Also, how long do you gotta let your bikes idle before you can get going I live down here in Fl and it takes about three minutes. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Thanks

I'm Mike from the big city of Waco Texas - birthplace of Dr Pepper, 10 miles from the Western White House and yes, the Branch Davidians... I'm 44 years old, own 4 bikes: 79 Goldwing, 84 Magna 700, 86 Magna 1100 and a 92 GS500E.  Got the GS for free if I could get it running and after rebuilding the carbs it is.  Its purple with pink stripes, think I'll keep it that way just to be odd.

I'll be using the GS and the small Magna for in town stuff and local trips, the big Magna and Goldwing are for long distance runs.  I put alot of miles on all the bikes, prefer riding to driving. And I LOVE long distance trips. So far I've done 2 trips where I covered over 1000 miles in under 24 hours. Something about riding that clears my mind, I addicted.

Thanks for listening...

I've said it already, but I'll say it again. That bike is awesome...haha. I'd do without that windscreen though.

Did you do the paperwork and get a [SaddleSore 1000 certification] from the [Iron Butt Association]?  If not, maybe next time!
