hello all,
First, let me say thank you to all of you who have posted all this great info on the GS500.
I have found this forum to be very helpful.

Now to my problem.
I have just started my mods to my GS and i am having trouble finding the jets i need for my mods. i have taken off my 2nd air unit, have a lunchbox and my jardine full system will be here by the end of the week. i have been reading all the info from this forum and i understand that my jets should be 22.5 pilot, 65 mids, 147.5 mains but when i called mikuni they had no idea what these jets sizes were. dyna tune only has one jet kit (#3156) for my bike and it is a stage 1 and i think i need a stage 2 or 3. will a stage 1 kit have the jets that i want or can anyone here tell me where to get the right jets with part numbers for the jets that i am looking for.

Thank you for all your help.

I'll check my service logs for my 2001 on my computer at home. You should check the GS500 Wiki and the FAQ forum which should have information on the type for teh 2001.

I know i wrote it for the 2001 and later 2004's
'01 GS500. Mods: Katana Shock, Progessive Springs, BobB's V&H  Advancer Clone, JeffD's LED tail lights & LED licence plate bolt running lights, flanders superbike bars, magnet under the bike. Recent mods: Rejet with 20/62.5/145, 3 shims on needle, K&N Lunch box.

Just to get this out of the way right now, JETTING KITS ARE JUNK; you don't need one in order to rejet your GS. The kits are WAY overpriced for what they provide, and chances are, you won't be happy with the results. Your BEST option is to order the individual jets you want, then install them and test your GS, to see if you need to change anything.

The pilot jet you've asked for (#22.5) is listed here:

http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/MIKUNI_PILOT_JET_N224_103_22__P2628C27.cfm

The mid-main jet you've asked for (#65) is listed here:

http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/MIKUNI_MAIN_JET_N102_221_65_P2451C20.cfm

The main jet you've asked for (#147.5) is listed here:

http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/MIKUNI_MAIN_JET_N102_221_147__P2417C20.cfm

You MIGHT be able to find the jets cheaper elsewhere (though I doubt it), but since Sudco only sells jets in four-paks, I'd advise you to buy from a company that will sell individual quantities, such as motorcyclecarbs.com. I've never ordered from them, because I buy all my jets locally (I believe in supporting the local Suzuki dealership), so maybe someone else here has dealt with them, and can tell you about their customer service.

Remember to order TWO of each item, and to only disassemble ONE carb at a time. You can always use the other one as a guide if you can't remember the order of reassembly...

Hope this information helps you; let us know if you have any more questions.

You can also buy the shims if possible. You will need that to shim the needles. You will also need some metric allen bolts, its easier to use that to replace the float bowl screws. You are less likely to strip the allen bolt than teh screws.

I got my jets from motorcyclecarbs.com.  Fast shipping and great service.  Those are the exact same jet sizes I used with my full Jardine and lunchbox and it seems to run great.

I just got off of the phone with Bike Bandit .com, I ordered 22.5 pilots, 65 mid mains, and 147.5 mains. I also ordered my lunchbox from Amazon.

Since they come in lots of four, in theory I should have two of each left over. BB is in SoCal, so am I.

I don't know when they will get here, but it should only be a couple of days.

So I could sell you two of each, for half those totals plus shipping to get them to you.

Or you can call Bike Bandit at 1-888-339-3888 and go through the parts order line and ask for Brandon, who was super, and who just took my order. I told him I'd recommend him on GStwin.

Here's a copy of my order, BB's part #s are the ones that start with 3, the parenthetical #s minus the k are Mikuni part #s:

Me, too!
Oh well, someone will want some eventually, I'll post them when I'm done with my carbs. It was cheaper to buy four together from Bike Bandit than to buy 2 singles of each on motorcyclecarbs. Plus they gave me free shipping for being a first time customer.  So they'll get more of my business!   :icon_mrgreen:

Well, they got here today, they said they'd give me free shipping, but it was $7.95. Which is still a decent price. I have feeler gauges backordered, so I may call them and ask them to ship those for free. I will probably not tackle this for another month or so, I am waiting for the air filter and hoping for a used exhaust. I am thinking there may be non stock jets in the carbs, since one of the POs punched a hole in the airbox and also half crushed the air filter, holing it by pounding a screwdriver into the bottom, trying to get more air through. ???  He also drilled the muffler, then bolted the holes back up. I may try it with the stock exhaust with all those holes unplugged.   :icon_confused: But it acts like it has stock jets...   :dunno_white:

Teek, a buddy of mine has a stock sv650 exhaust he probably wants to sell, let me know if you're interested.

Does the SV650 come with it??   :icon_mrgreen:

Seriously, I almost brought an SV home a couple months back, I felt like I was already cheating on the GS though, even thinking about it. I really like the bike in the naked version. If there was going to be a third bike in the garage, it would either be an SV650 or a Ducati Monster. Now the Monster is really a gimme, but we have put some thought into an SV. I can't say I'm in love with the exhaust on it though, but I appreciate the thought. I understand they are a bit of a problem to put on another bike and even back on an SV unless it's the whole system, anyone know for sure re: the GS? It's pretty big, too.

I'm actually jonesing for a Yoshimura TRS oval slip on. If someone has access to a Vampire, I'd take that in a heartbeat.   8)

The SV riders forum would be the place to sell that SV exhaust, some people do want them back on their bikes there.

Hi Scott, you got stuck in my spamfilter but I emailed you back that I shipped them off a week ago to another forum member. Seriously, try Bike Bandit, they were fast and they will do next day or second day air for you in Indiana, I believe, you could maybe have them by Friday. Then you can post the extras here. The rejet mod with the K&N lunchbox is seriously the best thing I did to the bike, you will LOVE it!   8)

I know how you feel, I had one missing air/fuel mixture screw and had to go to 2 dif. local shops to get the screw, o-ring, spring and washer... but I wanted it done by the weekend and back together and out of the basement!
