Here's the pics of my 2005 Australian ignition rotor.

As you can see there is a number 12 stamped on there. I'm guessing that means 12 degrees advance???????

Okay, someone had to ask... Does installing an IA cause any downward effect on fuel economy??

If you have the stock exhaust and air filter,it may knock a couple mpg off.If they're not prolly 45 to 55 mpg.Depends on your riding habits.

I get email notices when someone posts on this topic ;)
So I do check in occasionally.

Right now I have a 550 motor with Wiseco pistons in my bike. Uni pod filters, advancer, V&H pipe, jetted carbs.
I got 61 mpg freeway (70-80) and 54mpg racing around the Santa Cruz mountains.
So apparently it won't hurt milage :icon_mrgreen:

MAKE SURE you ONLY send the ROTOR. Not the backing plate like in the DIY section.

You can also PM me or email at bobbroussard@x.cx

One way or another you'll get a response :thumb:

And YES I'm still doing them for anyone

550cc??? I'm not sure I wanna know but how did you get an even 550cc?

Hmmm.... I wonder who made this mistake?

Got mine back from Bob and it really seems to have smoothed out some low RPM hesitation I was having.  Send some extra money w/ the package.   :)

Actually it's a 541cc motor with 78mm wiseco pistons.
79mm would be 555cc (maximum possible without re-sleeving)
every mm bore over stock adds 13cc. Stock bore is 74mm
It required some head work to fit the pistons and a slight modification to the piston for valve clearence. Other than that it's stock.
Pulls very strong. Had it past 130 and still pulling, but was going past redline with the gearing I have. I'm going to put the stock countersprocket back on and see how it feels.

Dgyver explained all that to me last year when I got my bike. That's why I was questioning the 550.I know you know that there's no even 550,but you've come up with some cleaver tricks.Thought maybe there would be some black magic involved with getting to the 550.Maybe longer rods, cylinder base shim, bat hormones, devils hair, your basic black magic mixed in with a little mechanical knowledge.Poof 550cc!It's alive!!!! MMMWWWHHAAAA HHHAAA!!  :icon_twisted:

Well it was my theory anyway.

hey can you find out from your local dealer what the part # would be?

Maybe if you want Ill send you paypal, $$ and maybe you could buy/ship 12' one back to me ? (grin)....

I checked local web site and they show only one rotor part # and not if 5 or 12' advance.
ROTOR,SIGNAL 2918027-001  , I would assume 5'BTC

Okay, here's the deal.

I modified an 05 rotor from a motor I bought. Since I use the older style ignition on the 05 motor, I couldn't test it myself. I sent it to someone and they said it seemed to work. They sent their stock rotor back to me.
I modified that and sent it out. I never got an answer if it worked and never got anything back.
So, until I can come up with another rotor and do more testing, I don't feel confident enough to start modifying them like the older rotors .
Which I still do :thumb:

Topher

So a 2002 naked Canadian version, could it be done?  I am slightly confused?

Chris
Hi, my names newbie, how are you?
:D

Bob Broussard

I can do the older style rotors. They have a single tab sticking out on the rotor and 2 ignition pickups.
The newer style has multiple tabs on the rotor and only 1 ignition pickup.

It doesn't matter where the bike is from. Just look at the rotor.
1 tab--no problem :thumb:

THanks to Bob for all the work he puts in... I just sent him my rotor last week after contacting him thru email. I wasnt sure if he was still doing the mods. THnaks a lot, i cant wait to try it on.  :woohoo:
