so, those of you who wear em, what do you wear? i have owned a pair of Brahmas(very comfy but hard to find em in my size). i bought a pair of Georgia Boot Mud Dogs bout 6 months ago. they were and still are comfortable. but they just soak up the sweat from my feet and nothing will get the smell out. so i bought a new pair of boots. UPS guy just brought em. a pair of Caterpillar Alaska FX Steel Toes. only had em on bout 20 mins. they seem to have better anke protection than the previous boots i've owned. so far seem fairly comfy. guess i'll find out tonight at work.

I buy a new pair once a year.  They're the only shoes I own besides my motorcycle boots.

depends on what you need the boots for. When I worked in a sheetmetal shop I wore these.

i work for Crown, the forklift company. i'm a machinist so i'm on my feet all night. steel toes are a requirement. i need a good solid boot that protects my fee and ankles and yet is fairly comfy, allowing me to be on my feet 8+ hours a night, 5 sometimes 6 or even 7 days a week.

Yeah I worked 4 12hour shifts, on my feet the entire time except for 1/2 hour lunch, take a good look at the Carolina's if anyone around where you are at carries them.

I have a pair of KIT branded shoes... i find them very comfy..

for my work, we're provided with BATA branded shoes but they are horrible. I am goign to buy some good shoes, the state provided shoes are horrid. We're allowed to buy upto a 200$ shoe and our union will reimburse us on it.

I work  in Wolverine Durashocks, I love them best boot I have owned since the Service. Nice for riding too.

Stand for 12hours on a concrete floor then tell me how comfortable they are. And even if you find them comfortable they are the wrong tool for work in a machine shop.

The Carolinas signifigantly reduced the pain level in my lower back as well, extremely durable slip resistant sole. If you don't wan't/need the met guards they have the same in a non met guard safety toe... I had a 10 foot section of rain die dropped on my foot because the left driver was brain dead while loading one of the big machines, that 280lb section of die woulda crushed a foot in normal steel toes, all I had to do was get someone to help me get it off my foot.

Great boots are like motorcycle gear, don't skimp on them in an industrial environment, no reason not to get them if you work in that environment. If you have any foot actuated safety switches where the toe does not reach the safety lock on the pedal because of the met gaurd per OSHA regs they must replace it with a foot pedal capable of being operated by a safety boot with met guards.

Check with your HR department as well many employers will reimburse you up to a certain amount or pay a large percentage of your boot purchase up to a certain amount.

FYI Carolina's are safety toes not steel toed, steel toes can be bent and cause amputation of digits.

OK, I will admit they probably aren't the best in an industrial setting.  On the comfort issue, I've rucked 32 miles in them without a problem, not even a single blister.

the new caterpillars i just got did pretty good tonight. of course my feet are a bit more sore than normal but at this point i'm going to attribute that to the "new boot phase." my employer does give us a shoe allowance. i just gotta get my receipt and take it in. i paid bout 98 bucks for the boots and should get bout half of it back. 

I'm trying my Damnedest to stay away from Any Chinese made Work Boots.I've worn them for Years (Unwillingly) and it's taken it's toll on my Feet.I've Lived in Work boots since I guess I was 8 years old.Right now my Pinkie toe on my Right foot Has Grown Crooked and the Side is now the Bottom.Actually to the Extent that I've Often thought of Having it Removed. On my Left Foot my Big Toe Nail has Ingrown.Not Downward but it has Curled Unward towards the Bone.It usually takes a few Hours for me to be Able to Walk on it.Blowing my toe off wouldn't Hurt any worse.If I go to the Doctor right now I'm going to be out of work and Broke.

Since I've found that Bates Are still Made in the states I've been wearing them During the Summer.Even though they are Made by Wolverine and Have the Durashock Soles they are still Uncomfortable.Possibly since my feet are Already in Bad Shape. I agree with jughead there.  Sportsmans guide has some decent boots at a good price for hot weather as well as decent riding boots if you don't mind having leather only with no sliders on the ankle.
