Hi all. I used to have a 2000 GS500 which I adored, but had to sell when I moved across the country.

Well, the snow is gone and the bike bug isn't just biting me, it's eating me alive. I have my heart set on another GS500.

There's a 92 for sale in my area with about 9,500 miles on it. The seller is asking $1300. I haven't seen it, nor have I even seen a picture of it, but assuming it's in decent shape, is that a fair price?

What are the differences between a 92 and a '00? On my '00, I had stiffened front fork springs, braided steel brake lines, a -1T sprocket, V&H exhaust (& appropriate jetting + intake), and a slightly oversized tires. Would all of those mods work on a 92 as well?

I hope to be riding another GS500 very soon... Currently, I'm in process of fixing up a 74 Honda CB125, but I just don't think that bike is going to cut it for me ;)

Depending on the condition, I'd say that is a reasonable price.  All your previous mods will work just the same on the '92.  Good to see you're going to be back on a gs!  :thumb:

Sweet. So long as this 92 is in decent shape, I totally intend to buy it. I had my last GS500 for 14 months, riding daily. Never got tired of it, never thought it was too slow. Can't wait to get another! They're really hard to find for a fair price around here. You virtually never see anything older than an 01 around here, and they're always asking 2,500 + (despite high miles on many of them).

Of course, by the time I get done modding a 92, I'll have nearly that much into it... But at least I get to enjoy modding it :)

Here's my current set of wheels (won't be selling this puppy anytime soon, with it's 80MPG's and nifty vintage look)
