Several people with the petcock problem use the PRI setting for extended periods of time. Just remember to switch back to RUN when you park the bike (otherwise fuel will flood the carbs if you have a sticky float).

Because the PRI outlet is smaller than RUN, it has been suggested that the bike will run lean on PRI. In theory, if the fuel inflow cannot keep up with the outflow, a lean condition would develop as the fuel level in the float bowl gets low. Unfortunately, I have not seen any data to confirm that PRI results in lean running.  :dunno_white:

The thread linked below shows a calculation where typical fuel flow rate is estimated to be ~3 gallons/h (or 7 oz/min, or 200 mL/min). That is a very low flow rate; my guess is that the PRI outlet is more than sufficient to support it without going lean.

Someone said it causes a lean affect, but I said how(I did not understand, since it still was getting gas) and then they never responded back, huh. Thanks!

The weight of the fuel in the carb float bowl generates the pressure required to force fuel up the mixture column and into the incoming air stream. If the fuel level in the bowl is low, the amount of fuel forced into the air stream will be reduced and the resultant mixture will be lean. For this reason, it is important to correctly set float heights as part of regular maintenance.

The orifice inside the petcock is half the size of the outlet. When running highway speeds the fuel can't always flow enough fuel and causes hesitation and cutting back.I have experienced this first hand.Do the mod or buy th cheap one. Here are the links.

Mod to eliminate the vacuum operation.
