New GS Owner (new rider) - Minor(?) problem

Hi,

I just started riding and I picked up a 06 GS as my first bike.  Got it new (still in its crate) from a local dealer and am loving it so far.

This forum was one of the things that led me to purchasing the bike, because it seems like any problem that I will encounter will likely already have a solution here.  (Unfortunately that's not always the case...)

There is an issue with my bike - the fairing is misaligned.  It appears to be offset to the left a little bit.  There is no problem with maneuverability, in so far as the handle bars can be turned fully in both directions and there is no contact between anything and the fairing.  Although I haven't had any problems with it, I am worried that letting it sit like this could cause a problem in the future.  This old thread: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=11577.0  has some pictures in the last post that show exactly the problem that I'm experiencing.

Since the bike is new, should I just wait out the break-in period and have the dealer take a look at it, bring it to the dealer ASAP, or is there anything I can do at home in the garage?

Thanks for any help,

Tom

My guess would be that the metal braket (fairing stay) is tweaked a bit to one side? Its deff not gonna cause nay problems but if it bothers you take it to the dealer and have them fix it.

As far as you buying it "in the crate" Did the dealer not assemble it for you? If they sold it in the crate its illegal and they can loose their franchise licence for that  :nono: A full (pre-delivery) checklist is to be done when assembling and test riding the bike for at least 5 miles. (as per Suzukis regulations) If they did not do that they could face serious problems.

Comgrats on the new GS

Sorry about the confusion, by "in the crate" I meant that it hadn't been sitting on the showroom, being test ridden etc...  It was assembled by the dealer and everything.

As far as the fairing goes, it doesn't bother me much, I was just worried about long term consequences of letting it sit that way.  Since there doesn't seem to be any issues other than peace of mind, I'll probably leave it the way it is for now.

Thanks,
