i recently got a used 1990 GS500!

it's no looker but it's comming along (it was a former MSF bike)

anywho

im looking to make it louder and maybe a bit more go

i have a buddie that works at a muffler shop and will put on a cherry bomb for 30$

if your not familiar with cherry bombs.. they are glass packs.... basically straght pipes

after i install that what size jets should i install?

i heard the GS's  run lean from factory and that new pipe means new jets

there isn't a 'cherry-bomb' option in the re jetting matrix

but if you wanna just use the stock pipe and knock out the guts- 40/150 with 2 washers and three turns...

whats this lunch box mod?

and how will this affect my power?

will i loose low in favor of high end?

not to familiar with smaller engines...

most my work is dont to car/trucks =-P

Lunch box is a K&N air filter that replaces the stock air box.Free flowing exhaust,air filter,and a rejet doesn't give more power.It gives better throttle response and smoother application of power.Jetting I use is 40/142.5/1 washer and 2.5 turns on the mixture screws.

thats for the tips..

im currently running a UNI and so far i like it..

i went down 2 in the front and it's alot quicker off the line now..

though i think 150 may be a bit much for it..

i dont think it's kicking or stuttering at 5/6k like i've been reading... but it doens't like to rev up to 11 anymore if i roll on it seems fine if i snap it is seems to bog and studder (seems like it's "8 stroking" ?)

anywho i started a new thread on those issues...
