m6y GS has good compression...

only 20k miles...

plugs are good...

sometimes it stars no problem...

other times it'll crank but not fire..

every time i've check im getting spark...

but if i bump start it it fires 100%

any idea's?

You need fire, fuel, and air.

What do you mean by bump start?  How are your carbs?  Have they been cleaned recently?  You can search the site and find a laundry list of carb diagnostics.

when i say bump start i mean it im in my garage and it wont start...

i roll (waddle) on it down my driveway and as SOON as i hit the pavment i drop it into 1st and pop the clutch out.

it almost ALWAYS starts first try with that method...

carbs are squeekly clean (did that when i rejetted it)

clean new uni air filter

always have over 2 gals in the tank (i hate running on res)

okay, I had the similar issues.
Check the following threads for more information. Mine has a bad rotor, starter clutch and don't know what else is screwed  . I am working on it this weekend.

or perhaps a dodgy clutch switch or sidestand switch?

check your safety switches.  sounds like your kickstand switch or the neutral safety may be going.  also check the wiring going to each switch.

might try starting with the clutch pulled in and see how many times it starts like that?

i might just remove those from the loop....
