Any flush mount option for front turn signals?

Hey, I just got an 08 GS500F and LOVE it!!!  I've already modified the rear fender and reflectors (thanks to all the tips on this site!!).  Now there's only one other thing I'd like to do.....get rid of those ridiculous turn signals!  Does anyone know how I can get some flush mount or "low profile" turn signals on there?

Here's the catch, I don't want to simply put on flush mounts that blink to the side of the bike cuz they're practically useless out on the street when it comes to communicating my intentions to traffic in front of me.

Instead, I'd like flush "low profile" turn signals that still project forward like the ones in these links appear to do.

Any ideas / suggestions on what ones I can get that will be compatible with the fairing on my bike?  If possible, I don't want to have to cut up my fairing at all.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!  =)

You could always look for turn signals that are integrated into mirrors... They seem like they would still be fairly visible, but would remove the need for the huge turn signals sticking out the sides of your bike...

nascarkeith

For the rear you can use the license plate mounted signals like mine or they also make a license plate frame with integrated signals.

For the front they do make some flushmounts that kinda bubble out but the signal/mirror combo also works well.

The integrated turn signals are great.....For the back. I ordered some universal flush mounts too. When I install them I will show you a pic and where to buy them.

Thanks for all the help guys, you're AWESOME!!

Hey NascarKeith, where can I get rear signals like that and how much will they run me?

Skeets

Those are actually pretty easy to find. All you have to do is get a plate or fender eliminator and then take the turn signal and screw it into the license plate. Take the wires from the old turn signals and plug em in.

The ones he has will run you about $35.00 and a bracket could cost you up to $40.

I know it wasn't directed towards me...but you don't like the integrated turn signals?

morale30

Sweet, thanks for the info.  I have nothing against the integrated signals, but I can't clearly see them in your pic, maybe I'm just missing them....but I'm BIG on visibility, so if there's any question on the visibility of the integrated ones, i'll stick with the midget ones to the sides that i know will be visible.

Is it possible for you to snag a photo of your bike with the turn signal activated?  If not, that's ok, if so, that would be sweet.

Thanks again for the help.

The thing is that it's really hard to take a picture RIGHT when it flashes you know?? I will shoot a video for you and put it on youtube tommorow. Here is a pic that I took earlier. It's not very good... Before I decided I wanted to keep them, I got my brother to trail me in the car. He told me that they are just as notcieable as the stock lights, but a lot more prettier. You can look at them here : http://www.pipecity.com/Search/CategorySearch.cfm/ManuID/1641/_1/Street/_2/Suzuki/_3/GS500/_4/2007

Here's a crappy pic lol sorry...

I didn't order a bracket I made one out of sheet metal when I did my fenderectomy.  Before that I just turned the normal bracket upside down.  I got mine from cyclegear for 19.99 but skeets is right they are easily found on ebay.   Here is a link to how my tag is mounted.

Well, I've been searching the net all night looking for flush mounts that would fit/work with my 06 500F and my patience has paid off!  For my purposes, the rear ones were not hard to find, but it was the front ones that were giving me the slip.  The rear ones I ordered from JC Whitney at http://www.jcwhitney.com/LED-MINI-MARKER-LIGHTS/GP_2003409_N_111+2006+200730504+600014762_10111.jcw and the front ones I ordered from MotoSport.com at http://www.motosport.com/street/product/LOCKHART-PHILLIPS-TURN-SIX-SIGNAL/?catalogId=104047&catID=470&pcatID=420&catName=Lighting+and+Electrical&pcatName=Parts&sMMY=nofilter&srchHistoryURL=w9uwtoj3||parentCategoryID~3^superParentCategoryID~category_root^parentCategoryName~Sport^categoryID~420^categoryName~Parts^subCategoryName~Lighting%20and%20Electrical^subCategoryID~470.  The rear ones will be mounted right where the stock signals are. That stupid rear plastic fender is cut off flush and level with the bottom of my license plate so that's how that will work. The front ones apparently cover up all of the original mounting holes by themselves!  I'll get pics up as soon as I get the parts and get it together! Peace! -Ike
Ride like there's no tomorrow and there won't be!

FOR EVERYONE TRYING TO HAVE FLUSH MOUNT TURN SIGNALS:

It was a complete failure for me. All my lights would blink at the same time.

You have to get diodes and another kit if you want them to work.

Leds are not the gs500's best friend.

hmmmm....so i was recommended by a friend to get brighter turn signals so i can be more visible; i actually ordered the same exact lockhart phillips set from motosport.com as well. just came in today, i was installing them until i found that the wires are too short! wtf!?

so before i go to home depot to make this a science project, did any of you guys run into this issue?

brief sidenote: even though these are brighter (tested them out unmounted), the way they looked on the bike doesn't seem like it'll make me more visible to cagers. we'll see...

well, ended up going to radio shack to pick up electrical wire. here's some pics of everything, sorry it's dark, but i don't get home from work early enough for any daylight!

and honestly, even though these LEDs are brighter, the way they are positioned might not make me more visible than i'd like to be. i'll ride with them for a while to see how i feel.

here's what the stock lights look like:

with these lockhart phillips turn 6 lights no fairing cutting needed to be done. i kept the stock holes (especially if i wanted to put back the stock signals back!)

so here is the original SHORT lp turn 6 lights: (no way were these wires gonna reach!)

and here it is after i added a good 6 more inches of wire. i bought more black wire and red wire (couldn't find yellow) so the yellow is actually extended with red --no big deal.)

mounting was the easy part:

here's a front view which is why i feel like i'm less visible than with the stock signals!

so okay, they look great! but does anybody have issues with cagers not seeing you? i mean, i've had that issue even with the stock turn signals so being that these are brighter i was hoping it'd be better for visibility.

we'll see how riding is now....

stay safe.

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned that (I didn't read entire post) but the best flush mounts are NON AT ALL.

most of them suck and provide half of the visibility of the stock turn signals.
get some nice looking stock GSXR 04-05 turn signals or something similar.
I just got rid of my flush mounts that were installed by PO.

PS. I'm not trying to be rude, just want you to be safe.
Flush mounts look cool but keep in mind how visible they will be to other road users aka "cagers"

cheers

the flushmounts i got were recommended to me from a friend who has them installed on his R6. he claims that because of them being brighter, he's more visible.

i'm already looking into NON-flushmount lights. sheesh.

sad...

stay safe.
