Hi All,

I've been lurking around the forums for about 2 months now. I just bought a new '07 GS500F in June and have been lurking here ever since and decided to register and introduce myself.

I'm a 34yo guy who recently moved to San Jose, CA from Vancouver, BC in February. I rode a lot of dirt bikes when I was younger and after seeing the traffic + gas prices down here i decided it was time to get a bike.

After researching online and reading this forum I decided on the GS500F and went out and bought it the next week.

Thanks everyone for making my decision easier.. :)
Congrates on getting the GS500F. Did you go to the SAC @ DA BAY ride? That is where I was this past weekend. What a great ride? How do you like your GS500F? Have you ever been on Group Rides? How long have you been riding? Well I'm in Modesto, CA which is about an hour and 15min from you. Once a month the Motorcycle club a hang out with in Modesto has a monthly ride. Maybe you want to come out to one.

I'm Adam from Columbus Ohio.

I just got a 94 gs500e from ebay with 3,000 miles and original tires, very clean, for $1400.

I have been riding a 2007 KLR 650.

Yea the nice running 440, I traded to a guy with a seca 2 ... his seca had a bad starter idler gear, my 440 had a error in the GA registration (missing character) and he thought he can wiggle it with a notary he knew and the NC DMV, and I thought I can either crack open the seca motor and swap the gear or drop a new seca motor in it. Well it worked like a charm for me - dunno about him. I had the 440 but for the most part I owned it, it didn't have a title. I then figured out how hard it is to get a title in NC.

Anyway the seca - I paid $150 got a motor and tossed it in, cleaned carbs, coated tank etc, rode it for 5K miles and sold it for 1600 bucks 3 days before moving out of Houston TX back to NC. Made out OK.
May buy another 440, but GS'es always get in the way ... everytime I find a 440, there is a better GS standing in the way. The last 8-9 GS'es I have bought from here. Heck maybe the last 13. The first 89 and the second a 90 were bought in 95 and 98. But after that I have only bought GS'es from gstwinners.

I am stephen from the KZ-400/440 Owners Group.  Small wrold, eh? <g>

I rode my silver 1981 KZ-440 for years, did an Iron Butt Run on it, rode it to the top of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire, etc.  but lost it when I traded it for a 2001 Triumph Bonneville, which I still have.

In there somewhere I had three Honda GL-1000's until I realized what heavy stupid, complicated, monsters they were.  The a Suzuki GS-850 -  too bulky and heavy.  Then looked for a KZ-550 but bought a KZ-1000 instead.  Still not thrilled with it but it is very fast. <g>

Not too long ago I dragged out a KZ-440 standard to finish making a cafe racer.
The bullshit of it all got the better of me and I decided to buy a more perfect bike:

No more than 550 cc's.  Air Cooled.  Chain Drive.  Light.  Not too expensive.  I really had my eye on a 250 Ninja but luckily (so far <g>) got a 1994 GS-500 instead.

I like it very much. <g>

Oooo PHM - The ideal step up from a KZ400 ... an XS650 yamaha. In fact the KZ400 is what the yamaha XS400 should have been. The GS450 is another KZ from the suzuki camp, but in reality the KZ440 is the best of that bunch. Mine was a belt ... beautiful. Now the GS is too far removed from those. And not big enough and it thinks its a 4 cyl, its a little rev happy. The XS650 is literally what the KZ400 will be when it grown up. I never have owned a KZ750 twin though. So I guess the xs is my yardstick.
The GS is actually a much sounder bike than the EX250. You will be happier with the GS.

T.E.Shuler

Hello guys,

I'm Eugene Shuler, I live in Bryson City, NC.

I'm an avid fly fisherman and own http://www.southeastflyfishingforum.com/
I just recently bought a 1993 GS500E from a freind that was stored in a garage for a few years. I just bought it to play with as a project, I always liked these bikes and wanted one back in high school. The bike does run but still needs some work, I have a noise that I'm trying to track down :dunno_white:, but anyway should be a fun project and a bike that I will enjoy riding.
My other bike is a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R, I bought it new, its my first bike, I've only been riding for a couple months now. With gas prices soaring a bike seemed like a good choice. I can't wait to get the little GS on the road, I'm sure it will be more pleasant to ride than the Ninja.

Nice forum, great resource! Keep up the good work.

Thanks

supazuk

I'm Jay 32  in the USCG stationed In Cape Cod, MA  I'm from NH.
I'm a new rider and I just got a 2001 GS500 with srapes and dings for $900 it runs great and only has 7k on it. I bought it off a good friend who's wife dumped the bike and she is done with riding (all cosmetic minus a lil tweek in the bars)
I was looking for a Zuk anyway since that is what I rock Crawl with (a buggy based off a samurai here is my web page http://supazuk.tripod.com/ ) so I'm really big into the brand
I hope to get some good riding on the bike this fall and praying for a mild winter ... but if not i'll get out in the buggy for a snow run

First post. I'm Albert, 41 years young (but I look 31), living in Seattle (actually Kirkland). Just purchased a 2002 GS500 with 17K last night and rode it home. Feels very different from my 1984 Honda Nighthawk 650SC which has an inline four engine and shaft drive. I've been telling my friends that the GS500 "feels zippy!" when compared to the Nighthawk. All in all, I'm looking forward to getting to know the GS500. Oh yeah, I've been riding for 5 years now.
