hey, i am wondering if the newer gs seats will bolt right up on an older (91) GS. or does it require the newer tank as well.

I think the newer seats fit, but because the newer tanks are bigger, there will be a gap between the seat and the tank... That's only what I gather from reading, I've never tried it...

01+ seat may fit an 89-00 but not all that well and it will leave huge gaps and be very tight to latch in etc etc ... I fit it, but the 01+ tail side pieces sit up higher and take up the gap ...
I seriously doubt older seats even come close to the newer tail ...

Check the part numbers on bike-bandit for each year........if they are the same they will fit.

it was primarily for the way it "hugs" the tank and the rear seems a nicer shape (by grab handle)

i was curious, i have to reupholster but was thinking about updating. In any event. just wanted to know. Thanks for the responses
