I'm Jay 32  in the USCG stationed In Cape Cod, MA  I'm from NH.
I'm a new rider and I just got a 2001 GS500 with srapes and dings for $900 it runs great and only has 7k on it. I bought it off a good friend who's wife dumped the bike and she is done with riding (all cosmetic minus a lil tweek in the bars)
I was looking for a Zuk anyway since that is what I rock Crawl with (a buggy based off a samurai here is my web page http://supazuk.tripod.com/ ) so I'm really big into the brand
I hope to get some good riding on the bike this fall and praying for a mild winter ... but if not i'll get out in the buggy for a snow run
Hey Jay, small world. Just moved from Mass., wheeled with Glenn and Randy often, funny to see you here. I'm TomKat on ORC, enjoy the snow this winter

Hello from NE Ohio. I don't actually own a GS500 (is a GS450 close enough?), but my son and I are currently refurbishing his '94 500. We have our work cut out for us. Rusty tank, wimpy fork springs and weeping seals, dry rotted oem tires, etc. The carbs are in pieces on the bench waiting for parts. The Sonic .80's should arrive tomorrow. Kat 600 shock is on the way. The wheels should go to the paint shop next week (what sadist came up with white wheels?). I've already gotten plenty of good info lurking here. A big round of applause for those who have made this resource possible.

Nickers777

Hi everyone,
I'm Nick, 35 from Australia. I'm new to riding though my 'driving' experience is rather vast. Having a full drivers licence for 18years, and moreso a Pilot Licence before being legally allowed to drive  ;) , I'm now totally enthusiastic about my new hobby - riding !
When I'm at work (based in Asia), I fly Boeing 777 aircraft all around the world, and during my leisure/free time, I plan on riding my 2008 Black/Silver GS500F, which is (time of writing) just 2 days in my possession  :thumb:
I look forward to any feedback from anyone regarding their break-in/run-in procedure ,any helpful, general info on this lovely beast as well as any interesting experiences.
Safe, happy riding.

Why put off something for tomorrow which can be achieved today ?

First time rider (31 yo) and just picked up a "new" (dealer overstock/$3999) 2006 gs500f and so far loving the damn thing a lot.  In fact I curse everyday it rains and even missed my car insurance payment.  Took my MSF course and picked up a Hit-Air (air bag) jacket just for extra safety, lol.

Been lurking here for a few months and have already modded the bike quite a bit (fenderectomy, reflectorectomy, "hot grips", risers, ZG touring windshield, Gorilla alarm, manic bar weights) and looking forward to more in the future (re-do lights, LEDs, bags, jetting, etc.).

Re: all those above mods I've done:  Thanks to everyone here who has shown how someone as clueless as I, can make these changes   :thumb:

Here's a pic of the bike (pre-mods; can post some shots of the mods upon request):

Hi

I am Patricia.  I live in Milton, Ontario and I only started riding a few days ago.  Still learning.

I have a 2008 GS500F for my first bike - it is lowered a couple of inches.

Anybody have any advice on where I can get an aftermarket exhaust for my bike?  I just want it to sound a little meaner!

Thanks

P

I work for a gaming company called Valve Software making the most kiss ass games that you'll ever play!!!

Just picked up a 98' GS 500 because I was told that it was a great starter bike, which it is, and it's totally easy to wrench on so I'm learning a lot that way too.

I'm Paul from Northern Colorado.  I bought a '99 GS500E a few weeks ago for commuting. Picked the GS because of good gas mileage, its easy to maintain and very fun to ride. It's in great shape though the previous owner left a few loose ends - been enjoying fixing those things.  As long as I don't get carried away with mods, this bike will pay for itself in a year (by miles saved on my other vehicles).
My other bike is a BMW R1200CLC - the wife and I use that for sport touring 2 up (10k miles per year).

Tinkerer Extrordinaire. Motto: If it isn't broken, take it apart and fix it. I live and die by that every day.

I like the GS - just enough horsepower to get me in trouble, and still cheap enough to insure for 23 y/o male.
