LOL, that was really great! I think he forgot to mention the trade-off btw adding weight and reducing air drag, which, of course, varies with speed.

My lord all of that to say yes a fuzzy surface will interrupt the boundary layer, hence reducing drag and increasing speed.  Of course, with more weight means an addition of drag.

If you notice, tennis players have known this for years, they aren't searching for the smoothest one, no to the contrary, they are searching for the one with the most fuzzies.

I know someone who bought a beat up Hurricane with no plastic. He got some sheet metal and fabricated the skins and covered them in brown shag fur. It looks like a buffalo! I think it looks cool as hell and it cost him $30.

they should do the golf ball dimples and such, they do they same thing, save weight (if milled into instead of stamped into the piece) and they make your bike look like a golf ball.
