:thumb:Hi guys, I'm British, based in a place called Chippenham in the County of Wiltshire... in England UK... I've been researching a fuel carbs problem on my girlfriends GS500 EL... and guess what... you guys really rock!  :thumb:I found loads of info straight away under the FAQ section... posted by Galah and saved by Redshift... Fantastic info and its nice to know I didn't screw up when I stripped/rebuilt the carbs... I'll let you guys know how I get on as I'm waiting for the O-rings that sit under float/needle valve seat... I also need to first get the ignition lock off as the key snapped off deep in the lock when I jumped over and switched it all off when fuel started pouring out of the Air-box overflow...I've got the new bolts for the lock on order and just have to find out which Torx socket they take...The Only comment to add to the brilliant info given on this site is... any further fuel smell will possibly be down to the crank/main body being full of fuel... I looked at this straight away and its full when I take out the dip stick... just full of fuel that is!! So don't start the engine coz your oil will be mixing with a load of fuel and be so dilute you could stuff the main bearings etc!
Cheers for now guys... and gals,
Pat

Hello everyone, My name is Clark and I am from Oak Harbor, Wa. I am a corrections deputy with the local sheriffs office and have been for 9 years. I just got my 93' GS500E from a friend for free (Great price). It doesn't need much to run. This is my first real street bike. I have been riding a Honda XL600R dualsport. Fun bike but it is a kick start. My sister told me that this bike would be a great starter bike for its style and. from what I have read on this site I agree. Two totaly different animals. This site is nothing short of awesome :thumb: :thumb: . The how to's are the best for those of us still learning the mechanics of the bike.
Thanks for letting me join.

Hi everyone,
Firstly, I wanna say just how good this website is. I find myself 'checking in' almost every day to see what's new in the forums.
I have introduced myself in an earlier post just below, being a new member to this forum/website.
After taking some pics of myself with my new bike recently (Black/Silver GS500F, 2008), I would especially like to share these with you. My decision to choose the GS500F as my first bike, after my own extensive research, was further confirmed with posts/ideas/comments in here, so my many thanks to all. Hopefully, my pics can be an inspiration to any still contemplating purchasing this gem of a bike.
Here they are-enjoy  :)

Hope to see more of everyone's pics and happy, safe riding.

Why put off something for tomorrow which can be achieved today ?

Hi everyone, my name is Ryan and I am a college student from Boynton Beach, Florida. Im currently a senior at Florida Atlantic University studiying history. I picked up an 07 GS500F about 6 months ago and it truly was the best decision I have ever made. There is nothing better than going out for a ride on A1A and just have miles and miles of beach next to you, especially when temps are below 90! If anyone is in the area or around Palm Beach county let me know, im always looking for people to ride with! Thanks for providing such a great website thats not only a social gathering but a learning tool as well.

Hi All.

My name is DJ, and I live in Lone Tree Colorado (between Denver and Castle Rock.) I bought my '04 GS500F back in September. It's my first bike, in reasonably good shape, and getting better as I fix the little things done by or neglected by the two previous owners.

Thanks for all the great info on this site, it's been a huge help.

So, Live in knoxville tn and work as a lexus tech. I got my first bike, gs500, for 300 bucks back in junish. Wasn't running, with a few other issues, mostly minor. Got it running and road worthy with the help of this site and its MASSIVE overload of GS heads without posting once, (hey search works!) duh. Rebuilt my first pair of carbs, sealed the tank, replaced clutches/springs, put a centerstand on, complete tune-up, new chain, 15t frt sprocket, others...

Hello folks, I have a 05 GS500F that I've put about 10k on in the last year.  I'm  father of 4 sons that are 17, 18 (this on rides with me, he has a Kawi 250 eliminator), 22 and 27. I've been married to the same woman for 23 years and my 22 yo and his wife is giving us our second grandchild in about 2 months. I've been riding street bikes for a few years now and my wife just loves it. Our last trip was to Key West last weekend. We are planing a Blue Ridge Pky ride next fall on our GS.
I  have found some very useful info on here to modify the GS into more of a touring bike. Luggage rack, trunk, higher further back bars, larger front sproket (juries still out on this), taller wind screen and a more friendly seat. There were MAJOR issues with this bike and a very unscruplous dealer, plus Suzuki corporate really screwed me but that's a story for later. I fixed the bike and it has been fine and very reliiable.

vancouverrider

Hey everyone,

I'm a 23 year old rider from Vancouver, part time student and part time short-order cook. I'm studying english and I'm graduating this april--and then who knows what?

I just started riding last summer and so far it's been the best decision I've made in a long time--can't get enough. Still have that new-rider buzz I guess. This site is awesome, you guys have a great thing going on here. Hope to learn a lot from you all! So far I posted one question and got two prompt, helpful replies--you all rock.

Hello, my name is Chris in Charlottesville, va and I bought a gs on craigslist for a $100.  Spent most of the summer and fall working on it and finally was able to ride it this past Sunday and it sure was nice and different from the other bike that I have been riding... a kz305 which is my first bike.  I did spend alot of time on the site for information and I would like to thank all the people who posted and continue to post.

Jeremy, From the Biggest Little City in the World (Reno, NV) haha! I started riding on a 96 honda nighthawk cb750. My girlfriend then started riding and she got an 06 gs500f and after riding it I loved it. So I, as of two weeks ago. traded my nighthawk for 1990 gs500e and don't regret it. such a great little bike.

I'm a university student at the University of Nevada-Reno. I usually ride my bike to school everyday (except in rain and snow) and once it starts to get super cold I'm gonna park the bike, put on a full V&H exhaust system on it (proablly rejet it as well) and sand blast some of the small bits of rust that are forming on the frame... then once next summer hits. I might sell it on Craigslist or something and use that as a down payment on a SV650 or a GSXR or somehing.

Got a 2005 K5 GS500F and love it to bits.
I live at the foot of the highlands so have some great roads to ride, as long as the bleedin' farmers haven't covered them in mud...

I am a 30 year old office worker - originally from Australia, I now live in southern Connecticut, USA with my Yankee wife   :kiss3:

She will soon be riding a 99 GS500E (once I fix it up and she gets her license in the spring).  I have been riding all my life, starting on trail bikes (QR50 at 4 years of age) and progressing through the ranks to a 954 Fireblade and most recently, a TLR.

I have a strong mechanical background.  I grew up in a racing family, and there were 5 boys - my dad was a mechanic, but he couldn't wrench on all our stuff - so we all became mechanics ourselves.  I pulled down my first 2 stroke engine at age 7 and pulled down (AND rebuilt) my first 4 stroke (XR75 single) at age 11.

My wife calls me "...a semi-professional mechanic, and an amateur home renovator..." (thanks, Reece Bobby   ;)

Thanks to all y'all for this awesome forum!  Hope I can contribute something of value   :)

Im 20 years old and i live in Vermilion, Ohio. ive been riding /racing dirt bikes since i was about 8 years old. just bought my first street bike (the GS500) in June 2008. dont have any credit so only way for me to get a bike was to finance it from the dealership. went with the GS500 because it was the only sporty looking bike i could afford (about $5800 out the door). im really enjoying it so far, and im glad i found a GS500 community!  :icon_mrgreen:
