Hello,
I got this bike on a trade and it  has 150 miles on it.
Owner had a slow speed drop and don't want it any more. Bike in storage since 2005.

I would love to keep it, but a friend already bought the front end already, so I decide to part the whole thing out.

Clean Title.
Motor not even broken in yet.
I'll post picture when I can take some.

I have everything except the front end.
Grey in Color.

Everything from the neck tube back is available.
PM me on what you need.

I can take paypal or credit card.

Thanks
Gio

Hey guys,

I was riding my brand new 08' model GS500F when a rather large insect splattered against my windshield. I no longer want the bike. Normally, I would just buy a new windshield and get thousands of dollars for the bike, but a friend came along and bought the windscreen. So now it's worth it for me to take the time and effort to part the entire bike.

I take credit card numbers, social security numbers, and cash envelopes.

so it's worth it to part out an ENTIRE bike because your friend took a $12 windscreen? WTF???

He has taken a page out of the buddha book and decided to mock the original poster.

A_steel dude ... nice going ... glad to know I am not carrying the burden all by myself ...

Hey Gio, I'd like a connecting rod nut. I will pay top dollar, near new prices. In fact I'd like all 4 of them and the bolts too. In good condition I hope.
Cool.

my bad guys for not introducing my self.
I'm on so many board that it's too time consuming and part of my business is to take apart bike.

Nothing fishy going on here. I have the title to the bike and all.
If you're in San jose, come down to my shop

The bike is worth more in parts than in one whole bike. Since this bike is some what parted out, I'm going to just make it a part bike, though it's still new.

Sorry, if I jump on and try to part out a beloved GS on an GS board, but it wouldn't do me no good if I posted on a different board.

Anycase, just another source to get parts.  unless you like supporting your local dealer, by all mean do so.

Thanks for not banning me! This could be legit deal, sure, but it's better to err on the side of caution. I just can't figure out why he wouldn't just buy a new "front end" and then sell the bike for $3k-4k, instead of the countless hours it will take to reply, pack, and ship parts, half of which will go unsold. Doesn't make much sense. If the tank & carbs fit on a <01 model, I'd take 'em myself.

Hey Gio, I know you said everything from the stem forward was gone, but any chance you did still have the turn signal/headlight switch? If so, I'll take a chance on you.

hey gio, if you can post a pic, along wiht your user id. in pic. not hard to do. it can be writtn on anything, but see weve had a rash of less than honest sellers ehre. MOST wiht low post counts.  so it may help sales somewhat

I have a gstwinner who has been asking me for the motor out of my bike. Now I am in North carolina and he's in seattle. I am going to call dibs on the motor for him and I'll send him the link to this post. If nothing else, it will save him lots of $ on shipping.
Anyway, Sorry for all the jokes.
I'll get him the link, and I'm calling the motor on his behalf ...

Put up pics and prices too man.

Parting out bikes always can invoke peoples credibility questions ... so the fact that you're a parts shop can add to a bit of credibility.

However price things out of the grasp of common sense ... and your sale will collapse faster than the financial industry ... cos well just face it, some crap you cannot give away ... like the rear shock ... I have 3 ... one of which someone dropped into the back of my truck one fine day ... in fact a famous joke around here is, you advertise a GSXR/katana shock for sale, and when someone pays for it, you send them the GS shock ... anyway ... some crap you cannot keep for even a single minute ... but much of this bike you'll have trouble giving away ...

Anyway, pics and prices = first step.

I could use a couple of parts, but I'd like to see some pics.  Hopefully this guy is legit.

Bluesmudge

I call the seat! I'll wait for a another post and a pic from this guy before I PM.

Gio

I know everyone is waiting for the pics. Going to do that as fast as I can.
Should of just wait and posted when I had the pics in hand.

The main reason I'm parting it out was because I thought I would like to ride the GS around, but I'm too in love with my other twins (going on my sixth SV650) and don't see the GS fitting in the scheme of things.

If I can sell the frame and motor, then everything else is just icing on top.
Yes, I'll have alot of leftover parts...that's where the metal recycling bin comes in handy.

Sucks to part out a perfectly good bike, but this is not my first time on the merry go around.

All the part request in this thread is still available. I'll reply to PM and whoever got dibs on the part get priority.
The part is basicially new, but I'm not letting it go for pennies on the dollar.

This is not a fire sale. my business is not doing all that great and this is another source of income to get by for another month
Anyone living in the bay area know everything goes to housing expense.
Not trying to get sympathy, just explaining my cause.

Cheers,
Gio

I know you have not put pics and prices yet, but as a guideline I can tell you what has been the general prices in the last few months.
I paid $60 for the 06 frame I bought ~2 months ago. Look for posts by nightrider. Took him 4 months and like 4-5 price reductions.
I sold a FE off an 07 for 100, I sold another 89-00 FE for ~70 clams. - Look for posts by user sandman.
I also have bought swingarms for $20 and I know of atleast 2 for that price. - I have 1 and so does werase643.
Carbs routinely go for 70-100 in good shape, front plastic set if in good shape are under 300. - Carbs bobbyg1243 has one and souljeroflight did till I bought it. His had a jet job in it too. Yev has a body set, and I bought one off hgdg13 some or other few months ago for 300 or so.
Tank is 150-200, seat, side covers 25-40 each. - souljeroflight, dgyver etc had these.
Guages 100 - 150, electricals 20-30 bucks. Front brake M/c and calipers 30 bucks or so, disk may get a good $, 50 bucks or so prolly. I sold a couple of brakes recently, no discs, I gave away a few free, but well, they were on their last legs.
The rest of the bike is practically worthless.
I sold an alternator for ~25 and the reason I got that much was cos he wanted it sent out almost instantly ... he in fact paid $25 for express mail.
This is a budget bike with nearly worthless components ... no one will even pay shipping costs for some of the crap ...
The parts books list them for big $$$ that is just so insurance will total out the bike instead of repairing it and they get to sell more bikes. An exhaust costs 1100 bucks. I have 3 I got free. Same with shocks etc etc etc ...
You may be able to sell it for more to a clueless walk in ... but no one here is going to pay you too much more than these prices, we are all well aware of what is available for what price. Same with fleabay, there is so much competetion there ... katana shocks available for 20-40 bucks ... no one will buy a GS shock if it was 1/2 that. You may be best off buying a front end, fitting it back on the bike and selling it as a complete runner. Those get 2500-3500 for an 05. More in summer and when gas is $$$ ofcourse.
The general rule is ... if all bikes need it and it breaks very often and random stuff cant be tossed into it - like the dash back cover or the dash lights, it commands 60-90% retail. And we go by ronayers.com website not whatever the dealer parts book has it listed for.
If it is needed but easy upgrades are available like shocks, wheels etc ... its going to never sell ...
Everything else is in between. There is an abundance of people parting bikes ... suddenly stringent registration laws, the dropping value of old stuff vs the repair costs, and generally crashed and trashed ... I have one that was front ended ... the guy decided to part it, I am building 4 bikes, but I have all the required parts mostly ... but you can see where there is a supply/demand issue here ... too much supply and not enough demand ... Not for all parts ... just most of them.
BTW you have 89 clip on's ... 100 bucks easy ... even more, like some have sold for 125+ ... rare and sought after = $$$ ... Price stuff right and the demand parts will sell, the rest you toss in the dumpster or melt it or chop it ... stuff that sells in a month is all that is gonna sell, the rest well ... toss it in a corner and admire it.
Cool.
