I do not know who this person is, but for what its worth MotoGio has a pretty good reputation in the Bay Area.  Not affiliated in any way.

In a way, that may be a characterstic of the SF bay area, like fixer upper 600 sqft houses for 750K ...
His 1500 bucks for a motor seemed to indicate that he was really wanting to help someone ... yea ... himself.

But then Gstwinners are long serving card carrying members of the cheapskate club ...

Bars ... yea dude, I was gonna send you ... wasn't I ... anyway, the pitch blackness and ridiculous unseanonal cold has limited my working hours to like 11-2pm sunday's. So like way behind on everythign.

Oh ... you didn't pay him and he's not responded - OK that is a smaller problem.

Looks like I've opened a can of worms with parting out a new bike.

Stay tuned...it is Winter coming soon. so we'll have alot of time to play with our dormant bike.

This site is great but its still just a gs500 not a sv650 or a gxsr, try getting any of these parts at a dealer, try haggling with them see how that goes, who cares that you got a good deal some where else, if you dont like the price dont buy it, suck it up dont be cheap, If this bike was oringanlly $5000 Id have to say an almost new complete engine is worth $1500 with the carbs because that has to be the most expensive part of the bike. And if you think its a scam then so be it, dont beat the horse to death.

As for Budda, seems very knowledgeable, highspeed and all that jazz,  glad your keeping these bikes alive and not  buying up all of them, maybe its jealousy, Id like to be large and in charge, buying, selling, and posting as I please but Im 22 and stuck in Iraq not gonna happen. Are bikes how you make ur living or just a hobby?  Everyone has a passion or addiction, I love bikes, sleds, cars (Japan 4 bangers, srt4 and cobalt ss) and trucks(Japan lifted or lowered), with bikes being totally new to me.

I do bikes as a hobby. And no such thing as large or in charge for me, I just post a lot ... no one is in charge ...

And yes, this thread turned into what it did because there were no parts and prices ... that is it. Post parts and prices (pics not required but advised) and literally all the thread dumping will stop. Till then the thread is just a discussion ... not a for sale.

And yes the bike may have sold for 5K ... and you're welcome to buy your motor for $1500 ... in fact I'll gladly sell you the one I have for that. 14K miles and great shape.

But of late a lot of states have made huge changes and rigourous licensing requirements ... bikes with marginal paperwork now become un registerable ... what happens to those ... I recently snagged not 1 but 2 hawk rear ends for under 175 (the whole back end, wheel, brakes, shock, wheel ... whole kit and kaboodle ) ... there is a few on ebay for a little bit more than that ... I attribute that whole thing to licensing requirements getting stricter ... so there is a lot of them without a way to get on the road, and motors on GS'es dont blow that easy ... so you have a lot of supply and little demand.

There are several reasons the GS parts are near worthless ... the supply - demand picture is really skewed to the excess on the supply side ... BTW the dash assembly ... in fact that rear plastic cup cover ... worth what it would be new ... or nearly so ... non rusty non dented original paint tanks ... same thing ... rear shock - worthless. Exhaust ... same ... supply/demand baby ...

I made a trip over to my friends garage to pick up the bike to bring back to the shop.
But didn't think it thru that I can't pick up the bike by myself with the front end missing.

So I just snap some camera phone of the bike in it's naked mode.

Here's some picture.

All the parts are present or in the box. I guess it's may be parted out to far to make it a runner again.
The thought did cross my mind to find another front end and rebuild it.

Once I get it back to my shop, I'll get some prices up.
Everyone that got dibs on it (either by PM, email, or posting here) will get priority on the items.

Yes, still have the seat. it's in new condition. Also the lowers too.
The front fairing is intact but damaged.

Sent you a PM.  Let me know a price on the parts I asked about in the PM.
