yeah...  i didnt ride at all this fall because my battery died mid ride and i didn't trust it, but didnt want to buy a new battery right before winter...

wouldnt' you know we had the warmest, nicest fall in years and i  missed it.   now every time i pull into my garage i just look at her all pretty and clean on her center stand.  only a few more months!

I've been riding year around here in NE Ohio for 24 years now, only go out when the streets are free of ice and snow but have splashed thru a zillion gallons of salt water and bikes looked it.     Have ridden down to about 20F in the past but last year the 30's felt like the 20's used to.  Guess I'll keep it above freezing now and maybe have to give it up when I hit 80.
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

I'm still riding here in Oregon even though we get tons of rain and generally crappy weather. I'll roll to work in my cage if it's wet and near freezing, but plan to ride if it's dry and just cold. had a couple rides in the low 30's so far and it went fine. Fog is kind of a pain but my commute to work only costs $2 a day every day I ride. plus I love it- riding a motorcycle is such a good way to decompress from the day on the way home.

GeeP

I ride all year in IL.  No such thing as "putting bikes away" as far as I'm concerned.

If the roads are somewhat clear of snow:  Streetbike.

If the roads are snowed in:  Dirtbike time.  :)
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

I moved out of Ohio to Arizona and wouldn't come back it for ANYTHING short of time to have kids and want to be near family.

No waaaay, is that Snoqualmie? Did you ride there in the snow? You are crazy! Those aren't even very knobby tires.
I tried riding in the snow once, it was nearly impossible.

Roadstergal

Ja, that's Snoqualmie Summit.  I don't know what was worse on those tires - snow or mud.  They're not dualsport tires, no matter what the label says.     But that DR is a tractor!  It starts and runs no matter what the conditions.

I always thought it might be cool to put a ski on the front of a bike and then maybe put some small chains or spikes or somthing in the back tire and ride it arround like that.

My stator fried a couple weeks ago or I'd still be riding.  It's going to be 20*f when I go to work in the a.m. but it wouldn't slow me down.  Damn stators.

I need to ride or I need to be getting a lot of sex.  I'm ready for someone to just shoot me right about now.

Still riding in SE PA.  It was a bit nippy this morning, about 24 F.  Tolerable, as long as there is no ice on the road.  I feel like a stuffed sausage all layered up.  My only gripe are my gloves.
I bought a pair of Firstgear Explorer gloves - which has a HIPORA membrane and 40 grams Thinsulate.  I was hoping they would be good enough for me, I'm pretty cold tolerant... but they don't cut it below 30 F.  I like them because they are relatively thin, they are waterproof, have a VERY handy wiper on the left index finger, but am very disappointed that they are not more windproof (but are supposed to be...). Fortunately, I can count on a stoplight or two so I can reach down and warm my fingertips on the cylinders.

My goal is to ride to work (70 miles round-trip) as long as temps and conditions permit, and a minimum of once a week through the winter.  I was passed by another rider this morning on his Bimmer... lucky bastard's got heated grips, the first rider (besides me) I've seen in two weeks. Come to think of it... I think it's the same guy I saw two weeks ago!  That's something I think I'll add next year, along w/ some wind and rain-proof pants.

Keepin' it real..... cold....

applecrew...go to wal-mart and get some ATV hand guards.  They have the big ones that cup around your hands.  They are AWESOME for wind protection.   My gloves are m biggest complaint as well.

NEWGS500F

Ride all year, all weather.

The ONLY thing that stops me is black ice, stopping me physically getting out my drive/street onto the main roads.

Other than that, Im on the bike every day.  Nothing else for it, hell ya.

Coldest has been -8 (I think) though I did drop the last bike on black ice in similar "heat".

Anyhow, snow forecast here today but Im still on the bike...no snow yet, yeehaas

Yeah if there is a chance of black ice (what we get here often) I'll drive my cage.
