Well an offer has been presented to me to trade my '89 GS for an 87 Supra Turbo. I'm not sure how legit the guy or his deal is so I'm going at this as careful as I can. I know how great my bike is and how much I'll miss it, but I'm a big fan of these cars and have been looking for a RWD sports car for a while. I'll keep everyone posted as this all plays out.

Hey Seconds, that actually sounds like a fair trade.  The 87 supra turbo is a fast car...Probably about as fast as our bikes.  It chugs gas though, especially when you stay in the boost.  Things you'd want to check, though, make sure that there's no blue smoke, make sure that the turbo is in good condition, and spins well.  This along with the rest of the normal car buying checklist, and you should be good.  If this car was driven hard, it could be on it's last leg.  Anyways, good luck, hope you keep the bike, but if the car is in good condition, then you'll enjoy it.

I'd think about it ONLY if its got a manual transmission, none of that automatic crap. sports cars just aint sports cars without a stick shift.
looking for a new vehicle again.

Oh it's a 5=speed alright. I'm well aware of the &m's head gasket problems. MY Cressida has a 5M and theyve got alot in common. All it needs supposedly is a clutch and a paintjob, but well see. I cant get ahold of the guy right now and he's usually real good about getting back to me via e-mail. I know to look for play in the turbo as well. Thanks for the support, and IF I get it I'll post some pics.

Trading a bike for a car?  You need your head examined!   :D
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Paint is ghey...sand it, primer it black, and seal it.  Changing the clutch is an easy thing.  You can change the headgasket in an afternoon if you've done it before. 5m's weren't as prone to the headgasket thing as the 7m...I put hundreds of thousands of miles on a 4m-E, a 5m-GE, 7m-GE, and a 7m-GTE and I had to change more headgaskets on the 7m-GTE than the oil in any of the others.

Great thing, though...3" full exhaust, Lexus AFM and injectors, full intake, and a better intercooler and you're looking at 300whp out of a $2000 car.  Grab a 60 trim and you can see 350+.  Hell, go back with a properly installed metal gasket and some larger injectors run by an Apex'I AFCII and you can get in the 400rwhp area and be out less than $3500.  Looks like hell but you'll eat C5's.
