New to the sight.  I don't actually own a GS Twin, I'm doing some research for my sister who has an 05 GS500.  She is looking for an aftermarket can, and we have not seen many 500's around to compare options.  I did find a full exhaust from Jardine for less than what I paid when I bought my Triumph can ($400).  My question is, I guess, is what is out there, what do you run?  What can be added without rejetting?  She is a new rider and is happy with the way the bike behaves now.  This is a low miles bike and she is looking to maintain the factory performance at this point (stock airbox and filter).  Is rejetting even required when just adding a can? I did have to go fatter on my GS550 when I ditched the airbox and changed to pods with an open exhaust.  Any info would be great

Welcome to the site and I'm sure we'll find something that will work. The folks here have done a smashing good job of putting up  Wiki full of all kinds of mods to the gs500 and reviews of different exhausts.

I am pretty sure for most of these systems you have to jet your carbs accordingly to get the best running out of it. I'm not an expert as I still have stock exhaust but my K&N Lunchbox air filter required a rejet and the guide was pretty correct on what to rejet to.

Good Luck!

So she just wants an exhaust that looks different? If you're not looking to gain any performance, just spend the money on gas and gear. If you really want it to look better, try painting it or buying a Yoshimura sticker off ebay and slapping it on the side of the can... Also, if she is a new rider, the chances are high she'll eventually drop the bike on the exhaust and scratch the heck out of it... Why not wait until that happens then turn the repair into an upgrade?

Then ja to the above - keep the stocker.

I agree with the above and if she likes the way the bike runs in stock trim then messing with the exhaust will likely cause issues. Been there and done that with another Suzuki and I was never able to get the bike set properly.
