Alright so I just installed vortex clip-ons today.  I wanted to do write up for it but I didnt have a camera other than my phone so excuse the pic.

how long did it take you to install it? did you have to drop the front fork? most people who install clipon remove the top plate and slightly lower the fork. more pictures please :O)

To do it like that you have to lower the bike (raise the forks) a lot. Have you ridden it yet? I built a new top plate when I installed my clip-ons so that I Hardly had to change the steering geometry, but the little that I did made a noticeable difference?
How is it to ride like that?

I like the ride with the forks raised.  I also made a bracket for the gauges but I wanted to mount the clip-ons like this and then use the bracket and see the difference.  It took me like 3 hours because I had to do some creative thinking and I even re-used the stock handle bar weights.

What did you make your top plate out of? I am buying these clip-ons and want a clean look.

yeah aluminum  will be your nest bet, easy to cut and drill and ir looks great. I'm an making my second top plate that will go under my vortex clip-ons to hold my gauges. the first top plate I HADE with my woodcraft bars then sold them with the plate.

You could just mill the top plate's bar mount fittings, then mark and cut off the part that sits under the vortex clampsand fit them that way leaving the guages in the stock location with the triple. It looks like the gap is almost neccessary.  On mine I had to rotate the brake lever back a little and it is still resting on the tach a little with the stock top plate on.  maybe extending the entire plate to the gauges would work and cover that whole gap.

Oh yea ... vortex Idiots gave you handle tubes that are ~1 inch too short. Oh F*(k ... what a surprise.
That is almost why I started making bars 4-5 years ago.

Pants are designed and made by people who have no, get this ... legs. I wish I could modify them ... or make a kit that you can fit in them ... why the F*(k do things you put in your pockets end up creeping down to under your leg when you sit ... yea I'll tell you why ... they put pockets in them that while are plenty deep, are not wide enough to go across the crease of the leg into the inside of the leg. That way it cannot go anywhere else and will not drop under you leg when you sit down. Worthless morons.
BTW 10 years ago it wasn't like this. I have pants I bought in the 90's that I love ... they are worn thread bare but dont have pockets that toss tehir contents under your ass. Pockets need to be deep and wide ... morons.

Anyway, you need longer tubes to get the brake banjo to clear the dash, or you need a katana 1100 master cylinder. Its banjo is in front not on the left side.

I actually had to cut my vortex bars, they came a few inches too long. The plate was surprisingly simple to make, but it is only a temporary stop-gap. I plan to get a new master cylinder, and then re-mount the bars.

You cut it short ... well, OK.

Yeah...idk how they are an inch to short...i cut mine too, and reused the stock weights at the end to keep the same look and reduce a little vibration...mostly to keep the look
