Put on the kat rim and 160/60 Metzeler M3.   It's tight!  It doesn't rub but set up and adjustment is crucial.   Probably will drop down to a 150 next time.

wow that tire looks huge on there.  It looks like you'll have some serious grip to rip :thumb:

Looks great! how long did the swap take in total? Also, what was the total cost when all was said and done? This will be one of the first mods I do once I get her road worthy.

the kat rim w/ rotor was !70.00 shipped,  the Metzeler M3 tire was 125.00 on sale, plus 35.00 mount and balance (!??, could probably have got that cheaper if I'd tried), the only mod is bending the brake arm, used a 20 ton shop press which bent it like butter in a few minutes.   Otherwise it is a straight bolt on.   Some folks shim under the rear cog to increase clearance between the chain and sidewall, but I had a good 1/8th" so I elected to run it.   It is a tight fit and like I said I will probably drop down to a 150 next time.   The 150 is probably the ideal compromise.

It only took about an hour at the most.

Also you are only about  2.5 hours up I-95 from me in Richmond.   I get up to see my brother (lives on Church Hill) every now and then so if you get ready to do the swap let me know.

Nice, I love the kat rear wheel mod. Any plans for those stock signals?  :icon_eek:

LOL yeah I love the stock signals.....nothing says "el cheapo 1993 model" like giant stalk turn signals.    My front right even has a goodly bit of road rash, keepin' it real.

If you have a "cycle gear" dealer around like me they will mount and balance any tire brought in or bought from them for free.    http://www.cyclegear.com  see if there is one near you.

No if anything it is a little short of full coverage on the rotor. everything fits.

Same rotor OD as GS rotor, except 5 bolt instead of 4.

How does it ride? I have a GSXR rim that I want to put on and nobody ever mentions how they ride after the conversion just how to put it on and what effort they went too, so just wondering does it effect the steering eg faster or slower does it cause any wobbles how does it feel cranked over does it ride smoother, those sort of questions. Any answers would be appreciated. I think the only mention was it felt planted on the road but weather thats in a straight line or going through a bend I don't know. thanks  :thumb:

the steering is slightly heavier, it is much much smoother, bumps are much less bothersome, and it feels very planted on the road.   I am still getting used to my tires so I can't say what it will do heeled way over, but in general riding it is a marked improvement.

Its a blast in turns! If you twisty roads like I do(yes, there's a few twisty back roads in Raleigh :D) then you will love it! I have no plans of using a 160, though. The 150 is plenty for me.
