I'm Miss lose it! If I can't have 'em in one spot they walk away! I even had a little spot in my tank pack I attach them too. Nope gone for four days ended up in my GI docs office and I didn't even see him that week! I mean at home I have to put my keys on the special hook otherwise I'm searching all morning.

I need keys with GPS chips in them so I can pull out a gps unit and find them lol!

Thanks for the help!

Use some of this:

+1

if it won't budge with a regular wrench, allen key, or other device, this is what you use. soak over night, then gently tap on the end of the allen key before trying to turn. rust is a nasty nasty nasty thing.

using a cheater pole will:

1 break it loose
or
2 break something

everytime :D

Then how about one of those quick-disconnect rings you can pop off for the ride and pop back on when you're done?

Can't you do the applique that you're trying to do with the heel guards still on the bike?

You might find it easier to just remove the rearset.

Toogoofy317

Dang it the one's on the right side just won't budge. I got a stronger guy to do it. I think he stripped one of the heads! They don't look rusted or anything they just don't move. I did the left one and this is how it looks

Could someone be Really Really awesome and do an outline for me either PM it to me or put it up here so I can trace it out. I really don't want to strip out screws and such just to do this. If you do I'll make  you a set and send them to you so all you have to do is stick 'em on! I have plenty of the carbon fiber material!

After I get both sides done if anyone wants some too without the dismantling I'll make you up some too. Thinking $2 wouldn't be too bad. LOL

Roadster: I had the detachable one that's the one's that ended up in a place I was 99% sure I hadn't been too! LOL. I did use the Carbon fiber stuff a couple of months ago to do just that. It blends in quite well!

Where did you get the carbon material?  Is it real carbon?  It looks much better than the carbon fiber vinyl I have seen.

Toogoofy317

I got this role at the motorcycle clinic here in Kissimmee for five bucks. But, you can get it at PepBoys and Autozone. It is called carbon fiber pattern adhesive film and is not vinyl. It holds up really well. So, I'll send you the stuff if you will send me a template of the right guard. PLEAAASE!

Ugh Josh08 did a great job of sending me a template but those dang screws! When I slot them and get it out I will try his template again! The fiber didn't form around the screws so ended up with a couple of silver spots and that ruins it!

But, I will keep my end of the deal Josh asked to give his free set of the carbon cut out to someone else. As soon as I get it off and made the offer will be forfilled. So, the first that asks free or Josh's choosing. After that what I said above.

I will get those screws trust me!

Well, got that stuff OHGOOD recommended. Nothing! Dremmeled in the notch to put in a flat head Nada! How on Earth do you get these things out short of drilling them out. I'm really pissed at these too little bitty screws!

Gonna saturate it again before I go to bed tonight and see if I'm any more lucky tomorrow!

This is right up there with full LED turn signals as far as frustration goes LOL. Maybe I should do a video write up on how to get a screw out if it does come out!

WELLL THAT WAS FUN!!!!! NOT!

I got it! Finally, two days of soaking in the stuff ohgood recommended. Would go out every few hours and soak it down. Today I took the little bit and slammed it in tight with a hammer 'till it was stuck! Then took a ratchet that fit over the bit and finally they broke loose then came out like butter.

Soooo, after much cussing, yelling, and even getting my neighbor involved I got it. On the plus side the Polaris dealer in front of my house gave me two replacement screws for free. Cool dealership too!

I now have the templates done! First person that wants it get's it for free. Anyone else maybe a buck or so for shipping/help with roll of material! You will still need to take off the plates to do it. Just so you know!

Now off to the pegs!

Alrighty! PM me your address and I will try to get it out to you asap. I have PT and work tomorrow I should be able to get it out on Wednesday if work doesn't tire me out too bad. Now you will have to trim off some from the outside. I make it little bigger so you got some wiggle room. I will also let you do the holes for the screws those two things are really easy. All I did was take a small kitchen knife and placed it right to the edge of the metal and peeled around.

So, lemme know. you are the lucky winner thank Josh08!

Mary

OH I got my pegs on tonight Whoo Hooo they look pretty sweet !

try putting the end of the allen key the the middle of a small ring spanner and use that as extended leverage to undo the screws.

Guys 'n Gals;

For future reference, do your self a BIG favor and get a set of metric hex drive sockets that fit your regular socket ratchet or breaker bar.  The larger "T" type allens are cool too.  THis lets you keep inward pressur on the hex drive so that it does not twist out.  Also get a small jar of valve lapping compound.  When you put enough stress on that "T" handle or socket ratchet that you are aftaid it will twist out anyway, then dip the end of the hex bit into the lapping compound and try again -- it give the tool a really firm grip in the bolt.  If its really stuck, DO NOT get a 500# gorilla to twist out the head!  Get your crappy old regular "L" shaped Allen tool and put it in the bolt's head and apply propane flame to the tool right up next to the bolt - then change to the good tool to apply torque.

Neat looking "carbon" material.

Toogoofy317

Actually, I did use metric ones non metric ones nada! Then yeah I did the 300lb gorilla friend that didn't help either. It just took a bunch of that stuff ohgood recommended and three days of constant soaking. When I beat the metric bit in until I thought I would just beat my brains out too! I used the "t" lever and that is how it finally broke.

Okay Okay arm twisted! Here are the pics!

Now I gotta find suitable replacement screws. Gonna stop by stealership tomorrow see what they have.
Hope ya like!
