lil cooler compatibility

So..I've been helping my body out alot messing with his Katana and noticed how its cooler attached to the oil pan. I was just wondering if the same was for the GS? I've done abit of research and I believe that the OC attaches to the block rather than the oil pan. Even if OC does attach to the OP, woulld I just be able to attach a newer pan and oil cooler or would I have to upgrade oil pumps?

Cant ...
Oil galley plug on right side ... could run line out from there to some cooler and back into the filter bay.
Or tap into the line into the inline to the filter, make an adapter, run to a 3 way and to a remote spin on filter and cooler. Lockhart used to make one many years ago.
Or, snag a nighthawk 700 oil cooler, the plate it fits to and figure a way to have that plate bolted to the center where the filter goes. That is a 3 way which does a non temperature based switch. Lockhart was a temperature based switch. Low temp it bypasses the cooler, when hot it runs in parallel, and when pressure is high it bypasses the filter.
Cool.

That sorta crap.
However yammies of that vintage dont have spin on's they have that Idiotic oil filter hatch with this insane bypass valve fitted bolt running through them.
I'd go with the nighthawkS part really if it were me and figure out if we need to machine what ...

Buddha is like the guy meditating on top of a pile of manure.  He expects you to be able to figure out a certain amount of it yourself.

Your idea doesn't make any sense to me unless you want to make oil filter changing easier.  As it is it takes 10 minutes.  Otherwise you're wasting your time because your bike doesn't need an oil cooler.  The F model has one because the fairing restricts the air-cooling effect on the engine.

Nice fairings.  Looks like you did a nice job fitting them.  Sorry I overlooked it.  The last page of posts sounded like you never had one, but I get it now.  Hardly anyone does what you did.  This is a special project.

Josh, go ahead and rub it in.  Remind me to rub it in when you give clueless electrical advice like you did today.  Shorts and opens won't blow bulbs, but you spout-off like the ignorant kid you are, and I've held my tongue until now.  I don't give advice on ballet dancing.  You shouldn't give electrical advice as you've demonstrated numerous times you have no understanding of it.

Remind me to skip your funeral when you wheelie into the side of some lady's car, you smartass punk.  :flipoff:

I've seen so many guys like you die early, and my cautions are met with contempt and ridicule.  Go screw yourself.

Josh answers me with this in a PM because he doesn't have the nerve to post it here:

"because i made my bike more torque on bottom end im out doing wheelies?  im not a young punk i dont stunt my bike but i also dont do ANY highway driving.  i may not be an old man but im not a young punk either im in my 30's im not a 17 yr  old squid.  i gear up for every ride im sorry i dont think making my sluggish stock gs even more sluggish but using a 17 tooth front sprocket."

He doesn't mention his total lack of electrical knowledge and constant advice on the subject, nor does he say why he acts like a teenager even though he past 30, ridiculing me for overlooking something.

I keep my original opinion.  Josh is an ass.

Kudos actually go to werase643. He did most of the work. We probably could've gotten it done abit faster if it wasn't for a certain mod telling us we were doing it wrong  :flipoff: :D We still love him though. Someone has to bring skunk beer to the wrenching sessions.

Clowns ...
Anyway, oil cooler on the F is plumbed through the pan, with oil getting into that line in the pan through a hole in the oil galley and tightly fitted to the pan to pressure-ise the line.
Werase and average - I was only against welding the brackets on ... I put threaded inserts in like stock 04+, but I took 15 days ... you did it in 1 evening.
If you bend the carriers in a crash, you'd have to weld the next ones back up ... or you could threaded insert it then.
That YZ FE is alive and well and waiting for a new sausage, the sausage with KX FE is almost ready to be fitted back together. Maybe the next one in my projects.

So just fitting a pan and oil cooler wouldn't do it? Oh well, it was just a thought....

Nope. BTW they didn't do squat to the pump. Same gearing, same pump ... so same dismal oil flow.
The F's pan actually only makes it harder, you are better off just remote adaptering.
Cool.

As buddha already said it's not as easy.
We're working on an adaptor: http://www.gs-500.info/index.php?title=Mounting_an_oil_cooler
Current progress: one adaptor made from perspex to be able to see if it works as we think it should.
Don't expect quick solutions though, we're working on this since 2 years... Just not enough time on our hands.
