Some guy is selling one on craigslist for $35.  I would like to have a little storage to throw in a pressure gauge, wrench and a hat (maybe a granola bar or two).

This looks like it would be a decent size, but the fact that it's simply held on by magnets kinda scares me.

Anyone had experience with this bag before?

I don't have any experience with that bag, looks nice though. All my experience with tank bags has told me that the magnets are very strong and just fine for keeping it locked on to the tank. Just don't punch it as hard as you can in the side while doing 80 mph on the freeway and it will stay on there.

I have the joe rocket manta xl which looks similar but is bigger.

I like it alot and the magnets are plenty strong, it never slides around.

Also when I need to move it to fill up with gas It sticks to the side of the pump station

Mary turned me on to a recon tank bag for only $15 on newenough that's better if you ask me and is strapped on instead of using magnets.

The one thing I was worried about was the magnets interfering with any electronics I might be carrying.  Guess you haven't had any issues?

I've carried electronics in my magnetic tank bag and never had a problem with them.  Also the magnets have never had an effect on how my bikes run (hayabusa and GS500)  I load my giant sized magnetic tank bag with 10-15 pounds of crap every day (books, locks, shoes, laptop) and the magnets have never had an issue holding the bag on.

Once, I saw a cbr1100 blackbird that had hit a car at freeway speeds and tumbled into the median.  The strap on tank bag was still attached to the tank!  You couldn't say the same for the forks, though. 

Have the same bag and have zero issues with it flying off at speed or electronics. The magnets are very strong. I'd recomend it.

I have that bag in blue. It is good quality, but I found it to be too small for what I needed. I got a medium sized one now. But I can't say anything bad about the quality and so forth of the manta bag. Both my tank bags are magnetic, and they hold pretty damn good. Plus when they are not on the bike I just stick them to garage fridge and I always know where they are.

I have it in silver.  It's great for just tossing a few little things into.  I've had it on a GS and on a number of sportbikes, and it isn't going anywhere.

It doesn't have a map pocket, so I've borrowed m'boy's tank bag when I've needed that functionatily.  However, I recently picked up a street one-piece with a thigh map pocket, so I think I'll be using the Manta a lot more in the future.

The map pocket isn't really that big of a deal to me.  Maybe if I start doing more touring or something it would become a little more necessary, but for just cruising around and going on some scenic rides, it's usually easy enough to remember a few roads.

In a city with more sensible streets than SF, I wouldn't need it, either.  BTW, 'functionatily' is how all of the cool kids say 'functionality' these days.  *headdesk*

So do I, never had any issues. It's held on by four magnets, very secure. You can fit two water bottles in the main compartment, that should give you a good size comparison.

Well, I just bought it.  Put it on the bike and it looks fine.  Should be able to fit everything in there i need to.

I'll see how this one works and upgrade to something larger in the future if I feel the need.

I like it cause it's small and doesn't look like you had turtle sitting on your gas tank....
You can fit bottle of water, sandwich, cell phone, and probably a few granola bars inside 
I never had any issues with the magnets! I would say it requires quite a force to detach it from the tank!! (the bottom part of the bag is rubberized so it prevents from the bag sliding around)
