...my baby boy was born.  It was a bit of a hectic thing.

Kalee really wanted to have a natural delivery.  Her due date approached with no signs of her being ready to go into labor, though, so they went to induce her.  It got a bit scary, though, because whenever she had a strong contraction the baby's pulse dropped into the 50's (should be above 120bpm).  They took her off the cervadil and told her a cesarean would be her best bet, and scheduled it for the following morning.

When her doctor showed up the next morning the report was that all the contractions Kalee had during the night after they stopped the inducing drugs had no effect on the baby's pulse and said they could try for a natural delivery...but we'd prepared ourselves for it through the night and decided to go ahead and do the cesarean, just in case.

When they went to pull him out it turned out he had the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck twice...the doctor said it was pretty tight, too.  No chance for a natural delivery and he could have been hurt had we tried.  We're very glad to have just gone ahead and done it.

Born 7lbs 5oz and has been a happy, healthy boy.  He even sleeps through the night calmly...of course he has to be fed every few hours but he sleeps sound between them.  It's great.

Kalee is recovering...a cesarean is pretty hard on a woman.  She's still not really moving around well, but she is getting better.  It tears her up that she can't just jump up to get her baby, though.

Anyway, that's the gist of it...

Mak, that is awesome.  I only have one child, but the day he was born was the most thrilling and amazing day of my life.  I just came home last night from a long ride (TX-NM-CO) which was awesome.  Your boy was born while I was gone on the trip -- cool.

Congratulations -- you'll NEVER forget that day as long as you live.  Enjoy the cuddling while it lasts.  It goes away amazingly fast; then you're chasing them....

congrats!  I've got 2 (4 & 8) both boys.

thank the Lord that you went on with that Cesarean!  He's a handsome lil guy!

I'm not sure if you have other kids, but one thing I've learned is to let them surprise you.  Give them some space and time to fail or succeed and chances are they'll surprise the crap out of you.  Mine do almost everyday.  Kids are awesome.  Even if they're 24  :D
