I just bought a 2002 GS500. It has 22K on the engine. Bought from a mom and pop Vintage Motorcycle shop so I am assuming everything was taken care of. My question - how many miles should I be able to get out of this pending regular maintenance? I do not beat on bikes as I am too old! I just wanted a commuter for work and back (40 miles round trip on the highway) and an occasional ride up the coast.
Mind you, I recently sold my Volusia so getting used to the street bike is taking a while!
Thanks for any input.

I have 70,600 miles on my current 02 GS500 and expect to get 100k out of it.  You're never too old!   :icon_lol:
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

I am thinking about selling my Volusia and getting a GS500F.  I was wondering what you meant by getting used to the street bike?  Is it more difficult to ride, or just different?

probably just different. I rode a Shadow 750 once (first cruiser I rode) and it took me about a mile to find the damn footpegs. What do you mean they're not underneath the seat?   :icon_lol:
