my insurance is 266 for a whole year...and it was like 315 a year when i was 16...and thats for a zx6r now. :woohoo:
Full insurance? Or liability?

Unfortunately, I have to have full coverage, my dad doesn't believe in anything else....Even though I paid for the bike and for the insurance. I told him I should just get Comprehensive and liability but he doesn't think so.

I just have liability and the highest coverage on PIP.

welp...two things....if its for girls, dont do it.  If you cant get them with out a bike, you'll only be a tool when you get the "prettier" bike. "Hey skeets, can i ride with you?" Get used to that line.
And if its for more power....dont do it. Power is nothign without control. You should wait until you have a few more pucker moments on the gs before upgrading. Believe me, theyre there.  You have a lot to learn about bikes and girls.  Dont rush anything.  you have a couple years to live.
Im all for upgrades. Theres a time for them.
Plutonian Death volvo is [NOT] your friend!

I'm sure we can't convince him out of getting a bigger bike if he wants one.  Cosmetically, if the cracks and stuff bother you on the GS, getting another bike and cracking the fairings on it will bother you too.  Anyways, get the car.

Don't need to impress anyone. I have a girlfriend. Upgrade or car is my decision now.

There will ALWAYS be "pucker moments" no matter what bike you have. The REAL question is: Are you ready for a pucker moment on a "better" bike?  I personally do not know skeet, so I cannot say (and no one else on this forum can) whether or not he's ready for a slightly bigger bike.

Be prepared for the HUGE increase in your insurance premium if you get a bigger bike.  I just WISH I was able to afford full coverage on my R6. Collision is the ONLY thing missing.  I pay less than $400 a year for my bike.  FULL coverage including collision brings it over $2300.  I also couldn't justify that expense...  especially when I bought my bike for $7800 OTD.  I'd basically be writing off the purchase price of the bike every 3 years.

Yeah, that was a little rough. We've already picked on his exhaust, no need to be a jerk.

Psyber_Optix: How will is that paint holding up? I'm assuming not terribly well if you're moving to the truck bed liner. I've been debating painting just the rails in front of and under the engine, ubt I'm not sure about it yet.

dude i'm 15 and i dont plan on getting another bike untill i have a job that can support a bigger bike plus with a bigger bike you dont really have any usable power unless you like breaking the law =P and does it really matter what people think about how you bike looks?  :dunno_white: also if your looking to go faster why would you want a car? fast car insurance isn't any cheaper =P i tried to convince my dad to buy half of a sentra S-ER vspec untill my dad found out how much insurance was....lets say it was more than a liter bike but i think you'd have to sell alot more stuff on ebay for insurance and gas etc on a bigger bike. but this is all IMO

be that as it may, imagine a Civic at 11k rpms. My cousin has a pipe almost exactly like it on his civic hatch and they sound about the same up to 6k rpms but OOPS, HE CANT GO PAST THAT!! So yeah it sounds frickin awesome.

Red...  you still HAVE to do something about that can sticking out so far...  THAT'S the major problem for most of us.

Yeah I know. It's only temporary. As soon as I can make a run down to the grandparents' house I will fab it up right. I don't have a welder here so I just needed a temporary fix. I don't intend to let it stay that way, I know it looks tacky.

actually the pj1 fast epoxy paint is working very nicely. The only area that rubs off is under the tank/rubber. Not noticable. It WILL scratch if you try, like most any other paint

a Phone I guess. And skeets get the bike you want and be happy so what if a 15 year old is fine with his bike or another 18 year old. Im 23 and would love a 1000 but have to wait till I get the moolaah. I may end up getting a 750 but the goal is a either a CBR1000rr or an SV1000 fully faired. And the GS was my first bike only had it over a year or so. Its my bike and I wanna look cool O0 no I just wanna go fast and if I feel like it bring the front end up with out slipping the clutch.

The only thing I'm really worried about is rocks getting shot at those rails from the front tire. I'd rather just leave them silver if the alternative is an awful black paint job. I still haven't decided if I like the older style with the rails there, or if I'd rather just see the main part. If I can find an old Ducati 916 tail instead of the R1 tail on the bike now, I'd definitely rather keep them silver. It would give it the classic 94 gsxr1100 streetfighter look, although I bet that tail would look HUGE on the GS.
