Skeets started the thread with everyone giving him the benefit of the doubt.  He acted mature enough, but now he is showing his age.

I'd be embarassed as hell if I only weighed 120, shoot, that GS has to be fast with only 115-120 pounds on it....lol
+1 when i got mine i still weighed 250 or so (that was before i started training for the marine corps) and it would run 100 even then

Now to the better quality, when I'm working on my bike (first owner, bought it new) different screws will be used, wrong sizes, or couple washers missing here. And the wiring of the Gs500f? lol it was insane when we did the valve check. Oh and I love my factory back brake, comes with freee squeek!!!!

My rear brake never squeaked. All washers and bolts were symmetrically correct. I was able to do a valve check from start to finish in roughly 20-25 minutes. In the 12,500 miles I put on the GS, I never once had to change a valve. No wiring issues ever, especially when you take the time to look at the wiring diagram. You think the GS is hard to work on? You haven't spent enough time working on anything else to know just how easy you have it.

You ever try to rebuild the carburetors on a Honda CBX?

You know Skeet you have definately proven that you are not mature enough for a bigger bike. I really can't believe I got in a tit for tat match with you. I really posted the first post out of concern for you. But you cannot take constructive criticism without getting fully frustrated and defensive. To me that is a huge indicator that you have not reached the maturity level of a competent adult. By your own admission you've stated that you are embarassed to ride a bike that you have destroyed. Are you embarassed because when people ask you "what  happened?" that you have to admit your impotence?

Sadly, I have scrapped up too many young men like you off of Interstate-4 and to be honest it sticks with me. I remember one time the guy your age sandy red hair or at least I think that was the color, there was so much blood from his head wound (yup had a helmet on) that it might have been dyed that way from the blood. But his hip well that is where he slid you could see about two inches of jeans, followed by about six inches of blood, then about eight inches of white. Can you guess what that was? When I got his helmet off and was asking him questions I found out he had just gotten that brand new smashed up gixxer 600 that day and was hot dogging it but he hit a tar snake. That is all it took one moment of "lets see what this new bad boy can do" to cause this 19 year old months and months of hospitalizations, surgeries, and probably years of physical therapy. Not to mention the repercussions of his head injury.

I will pray for you young man because you will need it. I also pray you never go faster than your gaurdian angel can fly. I hope what I have said has some iota of impression on you. I will not banter with you. But, you started it by telling me to go back to the kitchen. Walk a mile in my shoes and you will have a different attitude about how precious life is.

Be safe in whatever road you take. I hope my grammar was suitable to you I only have a college degree so I may be a bit behind you.

Mary
Cool story bro.

I don't know about you guys, but I feel perfectly fine with letting him do what he wants. For better or worse, it's just drama on the internet. There are so many types online now, it's almost expected. I for one never really knew Toogoofy, nor did I pay any attention to her posts before, but I have a new found respect for her.

Skeets, just be safe. I wish for a nicer bike, but i've also bonded with my GS. When I move up, I doubt i will get rid of it just because it's embarassing. I don't have the ~experience marks~ that you have made on your bike, but i hope whatever you get next doesnt cost an arm and leg to repair....you know, in case accidents happen (which they do). At least you ride with gear, which still says something. But gear cant always protect you, it's there to hold most of you intact. You wanna pick up chicks? get a harley, she'll love the feeling better. And be kind to those who do have experience, they may be acting as overprotective parents, but in the line of duty... death is no laughing matter.

I respect everyone's opinion but I've learned over the years that you don't listen to everything you hear. In this case I took a lot of things you all have said to heart about my new choice but took a lot of it as bullsh*t.

I know one of the members even made a thread about me which really showed what type of person he/she is. I understand that this is a GS website and when someone puts down the GS you all go insane like the worlds going to end. I don't think anyone ever read my posts, but instead just typed away. Maybe it's because I'm 17 which makes anything I say inferior? I don't know.

I'll recap.

The GS500f I bought in 2008 was for learning purposes only. Now I could have started on a GSXR1000, I had the money. But I took the advice of another forum to start on a more forgiving bike. Now, I've done my damage to my Gs500f and I want someone else to learn on it. I feel as though I've learned enough on the GS500 to upgrade to something bigger.

You absolutely don't know me or how I learn or my capabilities. Don't judge me on who I am, my age or anything. Even if statistics say something those are for groups, not individuals. I bet the people who criticized me have dropped their bikes. At least I was honest about all my flaws.

This wasn't an attack at anyone at all. Nor were any of my posts. I also am sorry for some of my comments that were out of line. I apologize. Just try not to judge a book by it's cover and everyone will be happier.

Gunna put some new brakes on my gs500 today!! and-
I'm going to go see a zx6r today. Hopefully it looks good.

peace
Have a nice

Jealous?

Not at all, actually. I've never wanted a supersport. They are impractical for street riding, uncomfortable for long distance, and best suited to the track or twisty roads.

Or convincing little kids such as yourself that they are cool, eh broseph?

Are you a 60+ year old man that doesn't get laid, and then takes it out on everyone else? I think so.

Watch you talkin bout Willis I already been riding today  :flipoff:! I even got Flick a treat a shiney new 15th sprocket will be here on Tuesday YAY. Still got $80 to spend on him thanks to some amazing people on this site. AND AND AND get this I found a kick arse pair of water proof cargo pants that are water proof that fit over my boots and pants for get this $5 YES! So was a good day!

Skeet you are a good young man. Trust me I respect you for wearing gear and such. I know alot of people twice your age that is riding a hayabusa as her first bike (dropped it 6 times already) wears stilletos when riding, no helmet, and spagetti straps shirt! So, age really isn't it!

Wanna see what caught my eye today?

Although, I liked how it sat, the looks, and other things. I  :dunno_white: I don't think I've gotten all out of Flick I can get. Or maybe he's not paid off yet and still has three more years of full maintanance and warranty!

OMG, you've been riding a GS for a year AND 4 months.... clocked in a whopping 6500 miles! Look out Rossi! You've dropped the poor girl multiple times and say you don't like the way it looks cuz of all the scars your professional riding has caused......... well, I for one don't wanna listen to you complain when yer siitin in yer wheel chair crying about a bent frame, shattered plastics, and broke forks on yer purdy new SS bike.... Mary, get yer spatula out, cuz he's gonna need to be scraped up like a fine omlette....

like many others on here, SS bikes & liter bikes get in my way and I have to slow down for them in the twisties....

Yes, but the ability to get there in a much shorter period of time without the necessary skills to cope with it can lead to situations where the end result is as described above.
