GS Clock Mod

Having read the Wiki on mods for having a way to tell the time on the bike, I wasn't satisfied. I didn't want anything that would stick on or require hole drilling. And wrapping a watch around the break reservoir wasn't possible due to short bands. So I created my own mod. I took a watch from a $2 shop - watch actually cost me three bucks. Got a piece of sheet magnet that had been cut into small bits and had sticky on one side. Peeled the sticky off and stuck it onto the back of the watch and presto, removable bike clock as pictured...

Hmmm. I notice I seem to be missing a hex bolt cover on the handlebar clamp. Wonder when that happened? :dunno_white:

I like the idea! BUT:

1. where would I stick the watch if I wanted to use magnetic tank bag? (which I do often)

2. it is OK spot for the watch if you're at the stop light but if you're actually riding it forces you to look almost all the way down to be able to see the time and actually for that tiny moment you will not be seeing whatever is in front of you...

not a big deal but something to think about ;)

PS. I went with wrapping the watch around the brake fluid reservoir. My watch straps were too short either but  2 zip-ties later and it fits perfectly!
The only con is that I left my 99cents watch in the rain yesterday and it died... crap.

What I did and it worked well until I left it on the bike one day. Was take velcro with sticky tape on one side and press it onto the black part of the fairing ( I know I got an F) Worked perfectly until someone took it :icon_twisted:  It also seems like there is a spot right in front of the middle of the handle bar that would hold a small watch as well!

Do F models have those covers over the handle bar mounts? Mine has never had them!

I stitched some velcro to my tank bag and then stuck the other velcro to my gps so it sticks to the top of the tank bag.

That would work well for a clock too.

Buy a cheap waterproof digital watch, buy a cheap keyring with a square leather-fob, buy some araldite/evo-stick........can you see where this is going???

I found a pushbike clock which cost me $1 works well. It came with a handlebar mount. See pic.

My clock:

Includes also actual speed, top speed, average speed, trip, odometer. It's a bicycle meter, shows speeds over 180 mph and costs ~15$. Easy to use even with gloves on and hand on handle.

Wow, you have almost the exact same clip-on setup as me! I thought I was the only GS'er with those ebay clip-ons. Very cool.

I have yet to figure out what clock to put on my GS. I want something analog and waterproof that looks like it belongs there. Its not very high on my to-do list though.
