I was debating painting my bike with a monster theme but can't bring myself to it unless I can do a professional job and have the paint be durable. Can anyone explain the process including sanding? Oh and great job on the bike and house  :D

i made this for plastics, but the same holds true for just about anything.

remember: the time you spend prepping shows in the paint.

ALSO

OP, you have a fart-can that's meant for a car on your bike? Does it sound decent? Any sound clips?

Excellent job! I just registered here because of this thread!
Makes me want to paint mine too. :thumb:
How much paint did you use? Mine has full fairing, so I guess I need twice as much as you. :dunno_white:

There is quite a few scratches in the tank and fairing.  :icon_rolleyes:
I'm going to take some pictures when I paint it. Have'nt decided what colour yet. I'm going to do some photoshop painting first  :icon_lol:

One more thing on painting outside; if you've got to paint outside do it first thing in the morning, at first light. The dew on the ground helps keep down dust and bugs are less active. You just need to watch the temperature and make sure you're in the working range for the paint. Activated paint can be "tuned" to cure better at lower temps by adding more activator; again see the application notes.

If you're inside wet down the floor and paint in the morning for the same reasons.

One way to defeat bugs is to get one of those picnic tents for about $100.  Set everything up & wet down the ground.

Monster engery drink kid, you could probably paint your bike black, or really dark green and get a big M sticker from monster thats made for vehicles, or you print one off the internet, trace it onto thick paper and cut it out with an exacto knife to make a stenciil, then cut out another one slightly smaller so you can have a border.

I actually like this color. The decals suck - because *I* hate decals. But otherwise... nice.

DO you think that this paint would work well for wheels?  Seems to me that it would especially with a clear on it.

Thanks! I don't like decals either. The color is ok, but the paint has faded and has some nasty chips. I hope and get that glossy look that gregvhen got.

I was actually gonna do my wheels and frame with a bronze color. I thought it would go very well with the green.

SO this paint would work well for wheels then?!  I think that is what you are saying.

any speacial paint for the fame? or can i use normal auto paint?

cyberdork

What would the process be for the wheels? Same as the tank?

redhenracing2

I would think that it would work perfectly fine. I would just hit them with some semi-fine sandpaper and prime them, basically same process as the body. Definitely make sure they are perfectly clean. I use acid and a pressure washer to clean mine, as I work as a detailer and have easy access to such things. But yeah the paint sticking shouldn't be an issue.
