BP, got any experience doing duracoating?  I'm thinking about doing it myself on this one.  One of their really dark browns along with some cocobolo grips would look pretty slick.

Never done any with it. Thinking about trying it though the finish on my 1911 is wearing pretty bad too. It's all in the prep work is what I hear from a local guy that does alot of duracoat jobs. And it's apparently a cast iron Bi@tch to get off if you want to get a different finish.

Hmmm, he claims that truck as an '83, yet that website shows it as an '85.

Is that reg no an original UK one issued to that particular vehicle?? If so something is not tying up.

The DVLA has it down as a `1985 90", NOT a  1983 110.

Could be genuine reasons for it especially if the reg no is not original but tread carefully pal

If its the same vehicle its still on the UK database so I would spend a few quid on proper vehicle check using the VIN.

That registration also indicates a 2.5 diesel and the 110 is petrol. He had an 85 90inch diesel for sale, id bet that's its plate. Thanks for the carcheck link. Ill definitely use it.

Yeah, you need to be careful, the UK private buying/selling system is not foolproof and there are loads of scams and tricks that people can and do pull. Usually when the truth does reveal itself the seller and your cash have long since dissapeared  I see it all the time when I am dealing bikes. The fact the vehicle has been or is going to be exported makes it even easier. I wouldnt even contemplate buying a used car or bike without even a basic vehicle check these days.

This guy imports and sells as a bit of a side business to fund his trips home to see family.  I'm going to pull some strings with a buddy to see if there are any issues with him or any vehicles he has imported through DMV and SOS.

And of course, as soon as I'm getting ready to drop green on this...........I find a slick deal on a stupidly clean XJR out of range of the prince of darkness.  God, I have car ADD.

fark.  The engine serial indicated it was in the early batch of turbo's that had block cracking issues and something just didn't seem right about the truck in general.  It didn't feel like it was well put togethor like my Series III   I passed.

I'll probably just use that $$ to buy an overdrive and do an engine swap with a 2.4l Mercedes diesel and a few other things on my SIII.

On the bright side, got my Combat Commander and ordered Dura Coat in 'Dark Earth'  Going to keep some bits silver and black and go with a sand colored G10 grip  I think it'll turn out nicely.
