Hi Lo beam indicator trouble

So I go to get my gs inspected and come to find out my hi lo beam indicator doesn't work.  So I do the next logical thing and get a new led bulb, and the indicator still doesn't work.  I tried the new bulb in the neutral indicator and it worked so it's not the new bulb. I am not very experienced with electrical so I could use some help in getting the hi low beam indicator to work.  What should I check next?

Hi,my guess is that a wire has popped out of its connector in your headlight shell?

I will check that, but the lights still go from high to low beam, it's just the indicator below the speedometer that isn't working.

Find the yellow wire that goes from the switch.  Follow it where it goes.  You'll probably find a loose connection somewhere.  (it only goes to the headlight bucket and the indicator)

I checked all the connectors and nothing seemed to be lose, any other ideas?

Paulcet

Maybe a silly question, but did you try the new LED bulb both ways?  As in, try it one way and if it doesn't work just flip it around?

Yea I actually checked it in the neutral light indicator to make sure it was good.

Well, then the last thing would be the socket I guess.  :dunno_black: Put the neutral bulb in there just to be sure.

Get a 12V test lite and check for power to the socket.  Also know that the std. bulb beam indicator light is a lower candlepower than the neutral and other indicator bulbs.  Look in the Clymer maunal for the CP ratings/wattage.    Good luck

I changed my hi/lo bean indicator for a blue led with no problems, since the voltage is the same 12V. Like Paulcet said, put a working bulb in the hi/lo beam socket, if it works perhaps the polarity of your led is wrong. Since this indicator only works with the hi beam, it must be a very simple parallel circuit.
