Quote from: grahamlocklinDoes registration include insurance? if so that is cheap.

As per misters posted breakdown $634.95 of it is Compulsory Third Party (personal) Insurance, without which the bike is not considered legally registered.

On top of that I still need insurance to cover Third Party Property, Theft, Loss etc, which is another $400+ dollars. So all up over $1100 to register and insure the bike.

Wow, Canada is expensive, too.  I think Geico charges me <$100/year for liability.

I pay progressive $78 per year for liability.
I think registration is around $70.

USA is "going socialist".........here is an example of things to come!
Cookie

Socialist you say?

The Elite Ruling Class has certainly been slow to learn just how much of a brutal pounding most citizens will tolerate before they so much as give a whimper.

If "they" raised my $25.00 registration fee to $450.00, I would complain but I would still pay it. Just like everyone else.
I think we proved that point when 2 dollar a gallon gas in America went up to 4 dollars a gallon in a month.
We all still drove.

To tell ya' the truth. . .
I'm pretty impressed that the Elite Ruling Class has been this slow to rape us even harder.
No matter how hard "they" abuse us, elections continue to happen and we continue to get bent-over, regardless of party affiliation.
Kool-Aid or Tea, "they" win and we loose.

Thank you for getting me upset over such.

I'm 25+, first year riding, took the safety course. Insurance for the year is ~800 canadian dollars + another ~20 for the license plates. Wasn't any cheaper when my wife took over the GS.

I'm in Newfoundland and pay $260/year insurance for my GS. It isn't full coverage, just public liability. On a new bike, I'd definitely get comprehensive insurance, but I think if I totalled my bike, it wouldn't be such a huge loss because I didn't pay that much for it.

OMG!!!  If the reg turned into 700 bones a year for any of my vehicles I would be riding dirty for sure.  Call it what you want, but those bastards already get enough of my cash as is.

On the same subject/example.

I buy a car and keep it for 20 years.  Tax paid on it once.  OK.....cool

But, I buy it and keep it for a year......Sell it to Mister.....He pays tax on it.......He sells it to Black and Silver......he pays tax on it.......etc.

What a crock of pig crap!!!  I think it should be a one time tax for the life of that car.  That's what they would get if I kept it til it rusted out right?

You are right about the price of gas going up to 4.35 a gallon.  We all still drove but I sure did trade in the 4x4 suburban on a 4 banger camry.  As much as I like full sized trucks/SUVs I am not sure if I can go back to that again.  I am far from a tree hugger so that wasn't it.  I just don't like throwing money away on things that aren't efficient.

/rant on that one.

Back to original thought...Even if your reg was 100 less it's still too friggin much.  Mine is around 50 a year.  Ins is 78 a year for liability/injury/collision.  I guess it's a matter of what you get used to especially if your car is several hundred too.  I am sure if it were like that here you wouldn't see people keeping the "spare car" or having 6 motorcycles.  Man, I am pretty worked up over here and I didn't even have to pay it.  OMG!!!!!

Well I can't be arsed spending forever on the phone trying to get answers out of some brainless minion, so am in the process of drafting an email, with a few questions as to thinking behind the massive cost of CTP. Hopefully that way any bullsh*t or lies they give me will be in writing.

My registration on the 07 was $82, my insurance for full coverage is $547 a year. But I'm 21, hopefully it goes down in a few years.
